Hi All,
Well now that Canungras been & gone, & we've had 2 consecutive camping weekends (Yamba Rod Run a weekend back) we can settle down & put thought into next year.
I've had a look at my committments, & have decided not to do anything with Casino Beef Week in May next year.
Several reasons, firstly its only a month before Wintersun. Secondly the guy that organised the hot rod show part of it is very ill & not likely to be able to do that again, & Thirdly Izzy is doing year 10 next year. Her teachers have commented on the reoccuring long weekends we keep taking, so we will be cutting back on the number of events we attend at this stage.
So thats left it open for anyone to organise the next event after Phargans run.

Hi Firefighter,
Boots & I had no intentions of going to the Nationals next year, and I have posted that before. We have travelled from Northern NSW to Morgan in SA, then to Mt Gambier for the second one. Again in SA. Both extremely enjoyeable events.
But we d ont want to do it in the Riverland/SA area again next year.
The Casino beef week event was not considered by me to be a threat to the Nationals. Opposite ends of NSW.
The very nature of long distance travel does restrict attendance at events, so having events at the same time in different areas shouldnt be a problem.
We dont want to get into the quandary the Street Rod Federation are in, with some states wanting a complete ban australia wide (or so I,ve been told) on the weekend of their official nationals.
This should never arise. No one can force anyone to go where they dont want to.

Thanks Diane and Banno, That makes three so far booked in. They have grog on sale there and a shop with frozen foodstuffs and news papers for Clyde 'Fugly'. They also have a kitchen preparing fast food. I'll get the local paper involved for pictures and interviews. (unless I hear objection to that idea) We'll need somewhere for the helicopters to land the NEWS crews!? Hope to hear from more of you soon, phargan

We really hope to make it to the ranges. As always it depends on what car we can get going at the time ! The Ute has steering issues and the 55 has the motor being rebuilt AGAIN (hopefully close to 600 H.P. this time) If all else fails we will make it in the wagon . Really looking forward to down there. Allo all, You may be pleased to learn that, at great expense, I have managed to secure 10 lucky door prizes and I will keep you all on tent-a-hooks and guessing as to what they are!? All I will say is that you will be able to clear space in the 'SHED' for something of great value to be hung there. No guys not the misses!!!!!!!!!! or the cat! or the mother in law. Now, who will be the honored recipients of this great object? suggestion please!!! The furthest travelers? The oldest Vin Van owner? The oldest Van? The oldest tow car? The dog with the worst breath? (or its owner!) Come on, I need ten categories, one for each prize. "Let me hear you" phargan.

Hi Paul, One thing a lot of us longer term participants have appreciated (in the past) is the lack of club type awards. That is nothing related to being " best of" etc. If competitive based awards are introduced, you will always find someone chasing the award, like at hot rod & other car events. In the past, Reddo has often created "Trophies" (being homemade works of art) that are awarded for nonsensical reasons. That seems to stay away from "Best Of" So for the lack of better ideas, I agree with Sutcac. Everyone puts in their effort, & NO ONE deserves recognition over the others, so make it random selection. By all means, select 10 categories based on anything ( stupidity? ) but award randomly from drawing from a hat, & not rentering the winner for a second go. I hate the club mentality of winning at any cost, then believing you are better than the others because you win. I have boxes of trophies from hot rod shows over the years, that are dust collectors & forgettable the moment you win them But Reddos caravan I bought at the auction at Coledale takes pride of place on my office desk.. Hi Paul, Thanks for sucuring the lucky door prizes for us. Lucky dip seems a good idea. Or they could be awarded for any silly event that happens over the weekend. Or we could do some silly things games like egg and spoon race, 3 legged race or have a pancake eating competition. Whatever is decided, I will go along with the flow. Di

We've just booked in & have booked a powered site. The owners say 4 bookings to date, & a total of 8 powered sites available.
Time will fly & then we will be there.

;D ;D Hiya Sooty.. ..........all names in a hat ...................lucky draw......... . "" Yup...that recipe works fine... Just be carefull...... and... "to be on the safe side.....ask a "Redhead" to do the draw ;D ;D ;D Phargan......JBJ has been very diplomatic with his post about Trophys.... but at the same time .. very honest.. we ( vintage vanners) have mostly been involved in some hobby that has involved judging of "the best of"etc...over the years and .. to be honest we probably all have a cupboard full of "dust collectors" I am sure anyone that was at MT Gambier will explain the dark side of Judging and trophys at the next QLD getogether Heres a tip.. draw a category... announce it...then draw a name.... The fobbergrossers hate getting "best Bondwood" .. and thöse that cant understand why we do it the way we do ... well they just get bamboozled ;D ;D ;D ;D Bottom Line..If ÿa turn up and have a good time"... well then.. your a winner.. " There is no losers at a vintage van getogether. Reddo

Hi Paul Were you serious about TV news helicopter et al?? I thought from the feedback at Canungra that we wouldn't promote these get-togethers so heavily to avoid people rubber-necking?? Ray

Hi All. We checked out the swimming hole on the weekend - awesome. (a long walk but a short drive from the camp).
The creek has a decent waterfall into a very large pond with high cliffs and swinging ropes. Saw some mighty game daredevils.
Also checked out the border ranges drive - very nice. (cost $7 per vehicle in nat. park.)
gotta go - gotta book in.
Phil.

Thanks to all that have posted over the last weeks. I've been at the bottom of the well for a while with much to do, like a one armed paper hanger with hives or two ferrets in a sack.....But I'm back!!!! JBJ, Bobandjacquie, Sutcac, and Philou are booked for a space with power and every booked van will have power courtesy of the Dosse's travelling magic plug-board box. The propietors as he said are happy to do that. To Reddo:- Thanks for your valuable input and we will adopt the 'names or regio numbers in a hat' pricipal for the give-aways as also suggested by others. To Roehm3108:- I wasn't serious about the hellipad for the chopper but the local paper may get to hear about it, namely 'The Nimbim Good Times'. To Jondi55:- Please book up if you're sure you'll be there and bring extention leads with you.
On another note, if you're going to go to Nimbin or the Channon for a sticky beak, here is how to get there--- Leave Border Ranges Centre and return to the main Kyogle Road. Turn right and take the first left after one (1) kilometre "Stony Shute Rad". A great drive for about ten(10) k's to the Nimbin/Lismore Road and turn left. One (1) kilometre will get you to Nimbin. From there you can get to Channon by turning right in the middle of the town and follow that for one (1) Kilometre passed the bowlo club. Turn Right at the next road. It will be sign posted to The Channon. Another great drive over the mountains will get you there after ten (10) or twelve (12) k's. Market is on the right through the village.
If you only want The Channon, at Nimbin/Lismore Road, turn right, travel ten (10) kilometres and its sign posted to The Channon from a left turn down there. Turn right at the village and the market is on your right at one (1) kilometre.
The total distance either way is aproximately thirty five (35) kilometres, so seventy (70) return
Shop-untill-you-drop!!! Then come back to the caravan park for a swim in the water hole down the road.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the instructioments on how to get lost (&stoned) around the rainbow town.
You've confused me on how to get where I thought I knew to go, or did I get that wrong, maybe I should have stayed where I wasn't, & just party on.
This event will be like our groups early events, where they were just fun, enjoyment & more fun. No Bullshit about anything.
Who wants to have stress & organised crap, rules & regulations, but theres unfortunately not many garage sales at Wadeville.
Sorry Ilse.
We will have a great time if we let ourselves.
