Hi. Perhaps this is "old hat" to you all, but Peter had this copied from the NRMA Archives, maybe you will find it of interest? Cheers, Franivy

Thanks Franivy, I haven't seen that test before, but like all the rest of the tests we see on the Sunliner the conclusion is it is an excellent caravan. .......just don't tell everyone, they will all want one. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ahem, sorry Mr Humpty, but a road test of 106 miles which includes Bulli Pass doesn't really take ya into the outback ;D ;D ;D ;D
The saving grace was the tow car......no less than a 1958 FC Holden ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi franivy, that's a very interesting article you've posted, mainly because of the date shown at the top of the article. In our DHL section on Sunliners, we have a copy of a sales brochure that includes excerpts from that road test. Thanks to you, we now have a verified date that the Sunliner brochure relates to, so thanks muchly for posting that.
With your permission, I'd like to copy your NRMA report over into the same section as the Sunliner brochure.
cheers, Al.

Feel free, Franklin 1, to copy into DHL. The leaflet there is also ours, we scanned it to a friend in Vic a couple of years ago, and she posted it to one of Vintage Caravans forums!

I wonder how extensive are the NRMA archives on road tests? My 1948 jennison brochure that I have mentions that they were tested by NRMA. jennison

G'day Franivy and Jennison, Franivy..... when you say "Peter had this copied from the NRMA archives"..... how did he manage to do that I recently contacted the NRMA library research team to get some information regarding a NRMA caravan Club we had heard about . Although they were keen to help they weren't able to find the article until I gave them the actual date the article was published ( it's in our DHL forum)So..... although I suspect they have lots of information in their archives finding it might not be easy I thought..... does Peter know the secret of getting access to their archives Cobber.

He got it ages ago, Cobber, I don't know who he had to charm, but will ask and get back to you.

Spoke to Peter about the NRMA archive article: he got it about 4 years ago, just rocked up to the NRMA Headquarters (nearby) at Homebush, and asked at the counter. Fellow from "Archives" came downstairs, took details, and a phonecall came later to say it was ready for pick-u. I reckon, as you say Cobber, that the magic is in knowing a publishing date - Peter had read about the road test in some article. Cheers, franivy

Thank you Franivy, It would appear that the modus operandi hasn't changed much... we would need a very dedicated archives operator to track down articles on vintage caravans without us knowing the date of publication Cobber.
