Hi all, Been logging on from time to time to keep abreast of things but have been keeping a low profile since I joined VV's as I've been up to my elbows in restoring (as best I can) my cute little 9' van. I've completely rebuilt the rear frame (bit of a trick with the boat shaped tail), but as they say softly softly catchee monkey. Sort of aircraft technology with multiple struts etc..... My problem is still the same as last time - a missing passenger side front window (Qualcraft), and identifing my van. Re window, I have the aluminium frame in the body, but need the window itself, with or with glass - I'll post a photo as soon as I get the hang of the photo posting thing. Regarding ID, after stripping the several coats of paint from the frame I found a chassis stamp and then contacted the RTA for an ID, but they only keep records for 20 years or so. My van seems to be around the mid 60's, so drew another blank. The number is "U77P" - anybody heard of such a number? If you have I may get close to an ID of some kind. Would appreciate any input there. Regarding lights, for anyone out there, I buy my stuff from brightlightautoparts.com. They specialise in LED's which are really easy on old wiring. Great prices, friendly service, prompt delivery - refer to Paul Sinclair - he's a good guy. Cheers, Heath

G'day heath, and welcome back! Sounds like you've been a busy boy since we last heard from you!! ;D Let me help you out a bit with this photo dangfangled computer stuff... This is your van... And these are the links to the original threads where MarkT first announced your van, and the second thread where we gave our opinions about what your van might or might not be... identification pleaseNew MemberI see at the end of the second thread that reddo offered a possible window. How did that offer go? I reckon that's probably about the only way you're going to come across one. These Qualicraft windows were pretty common throughout the different brands, so somebody wrecking a van will be your only hope. And speaking of wrecking vans, somehow or other you'll have to make contact with the people that are putting the old vans into smash-up derbies. Find out when the vans are being collected for the smash-ups and grab a window out of one when they are being "prepared". Reddo's your main man for being successful here...treat him nicely and I reckon you'll come out a winner ;D ;D The chassis number doesn't mean anything to me. However, I reckon in another 10 years time we'll have collected quite a lot of chassis numbers, so we'll have a much better idea of what they all mean. All you have to do is stick around for another ten years to get your answer! cheers, Al.

Hi Al, Many thanks for the links - the info was buried several pages back in the general forum and would take ages to dig out. I've been searching hard for a window without success, but I'm putting out feelers with various van places in my area. . Going to try and post a photo within the next few days to put it out there. If no success within four or five weeks I'll replace both front windows with another pair that fit the original holes. Regarding the rebuild, its progressing - working from the rear forwards, and have reached the door - may finish the wardrobe and door frame this week (man is that a problem child with the top left corner so close to the roof line), the kitchen area the next week, new redesigned cupboards in the front by the end of September, ready for the skin to go back on in October. Hopefully Rego in November ready for a short run for Christmas, while I run over various exterior colour options. Its a plan. It was great to finally find a chassis stamp - at least I can keep the original number now for the weighbridge certificate and Rego. Cheers, Heath
