G'day 64sled, Nice work on your camper trailer - it looks fantastic! Like what you've done with the cabinetry and furnishings, etc. The question of insurance comes up quite regularly, and has been discussed quite a bit over the years the forum has been going. There are some insurance companies that won't touch caravans 25 or 30+ years old with a barge pole, some that seem to cover V V's for some people but not others (probably depends on how you describe your van and its usage), and a number of companies that are happy to cover V V's. Of the latter, opinions vary on which ones may or may not be best... As you will judge from the above, insurance for V V's is not as straightforward as you might think. The best thing I can do is to refer you to the most recent thread where all this was discussed. At least you'll get the names of some companies you can ring up and talk to about your van - click hereYou can also use the search button on the forum menu if you want to find more posts about insurance. Just a couple of tips about using the search screen if you decide to look for more info and haven't done a search before: - Down the bottom where it says 'Posted within the last', replace 7 days with 1800 days. That'll take you back pretty close to the beginning of the forum.
- Where it says 'Maximum results', replace 10 with 250. There are heaps of posts on insurance...
Hope that'll help with your quest. Don Ricardo

Yeah nice job !. It reminds me of some of the rebuilds that I worked on when employed for a few years at a Canvas company called Halls Canvas Goods at Hackham SA. Those ACT campers were either good or bad, never seemed to be an inbetween condition. We regularly had to beef up the underfloor area adjacent to the door opening to reduce the "inches" of flex that was sometimes present on "very used" models. Another problem area was the Fibreglass Top. Some models were very thin and when the canvas was stapled to the top, staples would sometimes punch right through the gel coat on the outside So I got quite skilled at fibreglassing new timber tack strips and Gel coat repairs. There was another Fiberglass camper that we did a few Canvas reskins on....Sunliner ?? ....not sure now as that part of my life was back in the 1992-95 era. We also did some cabinet reworks as well, but your job is much nicer than what we did.....but then it did come down to what the customer could afford. When you do anything yourself to your own Van it's gunna have much more attention to detail. You've done a great job !. Cheers........Barry.

Hi
I had trouble getting insurance as a renovated caravan falls outside their criteria.
The number I got from the insurance ombudsman was CIL insurance 1800 112 481 .
Two numbers where given but I went with CIL they were $50 more but their excess was less.
Good luck Sharon
