Wanting to mount a bracket for the LCD TV on the back wall of the van but there's not much to screw into of course. Any ideas on the best way to make it strong enough to hold securely. The TV's only light at around 3kgs and the arm about 1kg. TV won't be mounted during travel. An easy job for some I realise but I'm not really tooled up when it comes to this sort of thing. Wanted to try and do the job myself or if there's anyone in the Brisbane area would could lend a hand it would be greatly appreciated. No problem taking the van to someone who could assist. Van is '67 Viscount. Regards John

Hi John,
You really need an internal rib as a backing or it will pull out on the thin plywood. The only place you will find that is in the corner or the edge of the winow.
The only other way would be bolts from the outside in, with collars between in inner and outer skins.
Where abouts in Brisbane are you?
Cheers, Ron

John If I may make a suggestion, if you screw two angle shape as shown below to the corner of your Van and then put coach bolts type screws through your TV bracket it should hold quite firmly. The screws should find the corner post of your frame. Peter (Highway)

G'day rovingoz, here's my idea to add to your collection... At the top of the back wall there will be timber framework behind the wall cladding (circled in first photo). Get a couple of picture frame hooks, rated at 5kg each, and screw them to the framework... Make the backing board for the TV bracket quite a bit larger than the base of the bracket. Put suction caps on the back of the board, or stick thick felt or non-slip matting onto the back of the board with silicone sealant. Suspend the backing board from the two picture hooks. Remove the board from the hooks when travelling. Down the track when you or the next restorer of your van want to change the TV setup, it will only be the picture hook holes that need repairing. cheers, Al.

Hi John, If you need a hand at all, give me a buzz. I live in Albany Creek, west of Aspley and not far from you. Peter's (Highway) idea looks like the best of them and very easy to construct. ;D Cheers, Ron
