HI folks. Only been home a week or so and already yearning for another mini tour out west!!!!!!!! Had such a good time .........just want to do it again!!!!! Just so happens that Barb has a sister and brother in law living at Meandarra ( about 350 kms west of Brissy......sorta halfway between Dalby and Surat) .....and it just so happens that on the weekend of 18/19 July...the little town of Meandarra will be celebrating its centenery, as well as 150 years of Qld and the opening of the towns ANZAC museum......a triple header...so to speak....... the festivities include the usual music, eating, drinking, entertainment ,eating, drinking, street parade, eating, drinking, etc etc.... sssssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooooo....we're heading out there with Fugly in tow......... .....there is a caravan park in town, but we would to set up camp just out of town, where the local authorities have recently built an amenities block with half a dozen powered sites....@ $5 a night .....first in, best dressed, arrangement ......... .........we would make a week of it.........our very rough plan would be something like......... .....Monday13 july.........straight out to the West.....Goondiwindi or Dalby .....Tues14... St George..... ....Wed15.... Surat ......Thurs16/Fri/Sat ....Meandarra. .....Sun / Mon,...... home .......anyone who can't get that amount of time off , may just like to go out for the weekend itself...say... out Fri ,..home, Sunday.?? This trip is by no means intended to take the place of our normal SEQ getogethers ..........its just some thing that Sutcacs are going to do anyway. ......and we'd like to invite any V Vanners who are interested along for the ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D We really enjoyed our last.. "mini western wander "......... and you just never know what you might find in some of these old western towns ,hey? ? Cheers Sutcacs

All this travelling and organising, and still time to cruise the Mooloolaba Esplanade strip in the beautiful, shinny and thumping Holden Monaro ;D Sweet sound almost drowned out the dak dak dak!!! Sounds like a plan but work might get in the way

Kel It's not right that Fugly is being towed by a Corolla. Maybe you should loan Clyde the Minx wagon. Rod

The Meander to Meandarra is still a happening thing. Spoke to a few retirees and semi retirees at Neurem Ck last weekend and there's a few people keen to head out west if it doesn't clash with other events and if they can get time off. so far we've got ......... Sutcacs .....definite Dave and Lyn.....definite, maybe Neil and Cheryl...definite, probably Earlee.....probably a definite...but could be LATE John K....definite possibility, at this stage Dosse ...for the weekend only....depending on work JBJ.....maybe ,if it doesn't clash with Izzy's previously booked pony riding weekend ....anyone else like more details....just PM me............... .....no hard and fast organization for this trip ..........just head west , and take our time checking out points of interest along the way.............. . ......PS...don't forget your heater Cheers, Sutcac

Hi Clyde
Any more news on the retiree's tour? Richard and Pam would like to join in. Have had a look at the RACQ trip planner and the following distances are a rough estimate:
B'Bane>G'Windi 360klms G'Windi>St George 200klms St George>Surat 115klms Surat>Meandarra 90klms Meandarra>B'Bane via Dalby 360klms
Roughly a 1200klm round trip. If you travelled via Dalby (omitting Goondiwindi) it is about 50klms less. Nindigully 45klms south of St George has an old pub established in 1864, camping is free but no power. Great spot. Cobb & Co at Surat sounds good and there is a Vintage Car Museum at Glenmorgan 70klms east of Surat. I am sure there are many more sights to see along the way and if not, we will just have to keep ourselves amused.
Anybody out there decided to tag along with Sutcac and Mrs Sutcac?

Hi All,
We'll have to give this one a miss unfortunately.
Amongst other difficulties,I need to get Lucille completed for a photo shoot in early August, & this goddammed rain is so consistent I cant get the interior painting completed, let alone the exterior touchups.
There will always be another, but We both would have loved to have been on this one.

Hi to All Dosse, Have new computer, old one died and lost all addresses so can't find anyone. Clyde, great photos, better than mine. Have greased caravan wheel bearings ready for Meandarra(and checking wheel nuts are tight on wagon). If anyone feels like roughing it one night away from civilisation on our way there we can bring 2.2kw generator, enough for all our lights(or my heater).Camp fire and happy hour or two would be nice way to finish the day. Regards, david and lyn.

Hi All,
Well the Fickle Finger of Fate has created a chance for us to come with you guys & gals after all.
We should be waiting in Goondiwindi on Sunday arvo for any one that turns up. Send me a PM if you want to catch up there.
We have booked into an ensuite site at Goondiwindi Tourist Park for Sunday & Monday nights.. It sounds like a good park, & we have to stay somewhere until we all get to catch up with one another.
Should have Lucille nearly done. Wont have any seats or table, or lino on floor inside. But everything else should be working.
Just put a new clutch & pressure plate in Red, so we're rearing to go.
Probably spend Saturday night at Tenterfield, so you Katoomba campers wont have the cold on your own.
If anyone wants to catch up with us at Tenterfield, send me a PM or email, & I'll give you our mobile numbers.
Its all fun

Hi All,
I've been in touch with Andrew, one of our members that lives & works out in the western Qld coalfields. He's a couple of hours or more west of Meandarra, but hopes to get there Saturday in his 1950's Bondy. Being a shift worker out there means he doesn't get much chance to get to our events, so it will be good to catch up again.

Thanks Dennis, I'm looking good at this stage to come down on Sat and stay the night, but will have to leave again in the morning. Will have the van but no Chevy to tow it - It's in the shed getting a makeover. My Mum and Dad will be staying with me then so I'll be dragging them along with me. I'm in Chinchilla, so if anyone is coming through that way and needs repairs/help etc My numbers 0400 576511, I'll help where I can. None of the recent gatherings have lined up with my roster so I'm looking forward to meeting you lot.
Andrew.
