Hey Scootman, you would think if that rumour is true, then this website would have something about it... www.nullarbornet.com.au/...but there's nothing there about any closure. Are you taking Princess Helen with you?? cheers, Al.

Hi Scootman,
I have read somewhere or been told by someone that consideration has been given to closing the Simpson Desert to vehicular traffic during the heat of summer due to the number of rescues that have to be undertaken, especially of overseas visitors. I'm not sure if this an urban myth.
I have not heard of the Nullarbor being closed.

Thanks all. Franklin , hte original plan was to take Princess Helen with me. We are going on a family hunting trip, not that there are any left, all long dead, but was going to retrace the family footsteps so to speak, we started over there. I was born in subiaco. But sadly a couple of weeks ago I fell prey to the surgeons knife so towing , lifting and pushing the van is out of the question. But I can manage a tent and if things get bad there are always motels. So will be starting in melbourne in a week or so and noseying our way across. Thanks for the info on the nulla. Will have a look on the "where you all are " part of the site and you never know , scoot may be knocking on your door.
