Hi All,
I cant find another thread that covers this topic specifically, so I've started this one. (thank you Clobber)
Hopefully as the posts on it accumulate, newer members might be able to find the missing info to complete their photo pasting.

Thought I had better try and do something constructive here so........... The Idiots Guide to posting photos..... the bigger the idiot the quicker you learn. First you need to get your photo from your computer onto a hosting site..... such as “Photobucket” there are others but let's KISS . (1) Go to photobucket.com/ and jump through the hoops to register with them.. It's free. (2) After you have registered you are able to place selected photos into your account by clicking on the “CHOOSE FILES” button... this enables you to navigate the files on your computer and select the photo you want to copy.( In this area of “Photobucket you are also able to choose the size of your image...I suggest 640 x 480 for use on this forum) (3) After your photo has uploaded to “Photobucket” you are given the opportunity of giving it a title and description.......... then scroll down the page and click “SAVE AND CONTINUE”....that takes you back to where you can add another photo or just scroll down the page a little and see the photo you have just uploaded. (4) Under your photo you see different “Codes”..... the only one you need for our purpose is the “IMG CODE”..... the one at the bottom, click on it then press the “ctrl key and the letter “c” on your computer simultaneously......... you have copied that url and are ready to place it on the forum. (5) You can then go to the forum and open up the “Post Message box” and type in you text, and at any point, when you are ready to insert your photo, just press the “ctrl” key and the letter “v” simultaneously on your keypad and you have copied the URL of your photo into your message. (6) To check that everything has turned out the way you would like it click on the “preview”... if it's OK...post your message. (7) If there are questions you would like to ask.......... ask away, or PM me if you would rather Cobber (smart enough to know I'm an idiot)

Hi JBJ and cobber, Yes, this topic has been discussed before, but like you I'm danged if I can find it as well. I'll post the same pictures I put into a previous thread...might be of some help to people. Cobber, in Step 4 in your procedure, I've found when I click on the IMG Code to make it highlighted in blue, it automatically copies the string of characters. For a split second I get a yellow box flash up that says "Copied", as per this photo... Those learning to use Photobucket should understand that when you paste the IMG Code into your V.V post, you will NOT see a photo straight away. Rather you will see a string of characters, as per this photo... It is only when you "Preview" your post, or actually "Post" it to the forum, that the string of characters is automatically converted to show your photo. Hope this helps... cheers, Al.

Hi Al, I can get the pic into the reply ok, but what I want to do is put the pic in at the left side where your user name etc. are. I have been into the change details, and the paste bit works, but the pic does not show. Regards Impala

G'day Impala, Displaying an "Avatar" is different to posting photos in a general thread in that you use a "direct link" code instead of an "IMG" code ;D You go to your “Profile”, at the top of the page it gives you the option to “modify profile”.... click on that and scroll down the page half way and you'll see where you can add an “Avatar”.......... where it asks for the Avatar URL .. that's where you put the second code that's under your photo in photobucket (it's called the “direct link” ). You may have to fiddle with the width and hight to make it look right but keep at it and you'll get there. Cobber.

Hi Harold,
Once you have pasted in the URL for the photo you want to use, have you tried pressing the 'Modify Profile' button at the bottom of the screen? If you've already done that and it didn't do the trick, let me know and I'll try and remember what to do. You will also need to fiddle around with the height and width to get the little pic right - mine's set on 65 x 65 if that's any help.
Inserting an avatar is one of those things you only do every now and then and in between you forget the little tricks! But anyway see how you go with the above.
