G'day All, just back from a week's R&R up the Central coast just north of Sydney. Didn't see any vint vans during my travels around Gosford/Terrigal/The Entrance regions, but I'm sure they are lurking there somewhere. Happened to pop into a garage sale up there last Sat, and managed to score an old Globite suitcase in pretty good nick, and a half-pint jug in very good condition. The jug doesn't have the bakelite lid, only plastic, but is still a very good example to add to my collection of van stuff. The Globite suitcase has a very interesting transfer (sticker? decal?) on one end advertising the Wentworth Hotel in Sydney. The swimming costume dates from the late 1940s (after 1946) and the Wentworth Hotel was sold to Qantas in 1950 to be used as a booking centre, so I figure the transfer is prior to 1950 and am making a big assumption that the case is from the same time period as well... A bloke can't even get away on holidays for a lousy week without suffering withdrawal symptoms from this V.V disease!! Is there such a thing as "V.V Anonymous"?? "G'day, my name is Al, and I'm a Vintaholic." cheers, Al.

Wow, cobber, that's a really interesting link you've put there. The case is only missing one rivet on one of the corner caps, and has general wear and tear overall, but otherwise it is in quite good condition for its age. I reckon I'll leave it as it is with a good old 'patina'.
cheers, Al.
