was thinking about passwording the whatever section, then it wouldn't matter what's posted there ......"enter at your own risk" the password could be some really simple like "whatever" .....so..... if you want to go there for a looksee you can, or .......if you maybe offended by what's posted there, dont I've tested a passworded section, and whatever is posted in the section doesn't come up in the "most recent 25 posts" ......so, nobodys going to be offended, unless they actually log in and have a look good idea ...... or not Mark

Hi Mark Me being the main offender in all this would be really happy to see that happen. I proposed this about 2 years ago before Ditzy introduced "Reddos Corner" which was introduced as being an area that we could talk about "Whatever", have a dummy spit about whatever, and enjoy a laugh about whatever. Those that contributed back there eventually got a caution about the content of the posts. So, the writing was on the wall way back. It has taken the same course of events to bring you to suggest the "password" idea. Pause here for a long applaud... Not only will it allow us to have a bit of a giggle between posting the "straight/ serious/ van related stuff" It will free things up for those that enjoy logging on and searching for the purely van related history, memerobillia stuff. I use to spend hours reading every post in those areas and replying with my honest opinion as to how something might help a fellow vanner in need of info. After socialising for four years with these members both via the forum and on runs, tours and gatherings i realised that vintage vanning isnt entirely about just the vans. Its also about the friendships made in the course of that interaction. I apologise to all for the dribble , but if we sat back and only contributed to the forum when we had something to add to a topic about a nut or a bolt on the vans then the place would grind to a halt. I will probably continue to get in trouble from admin in one form or another . But i invite those that have a bitch about me to contact me via a pm and i will, in most cases moderate my behaviour. You may have noticed that there is no more shells left to fire at the fibreglass owners. This came about from a request from a bloke that contacted me personally. I concurred with him and promptly cleaned up the thread he was unhappy about. Might i add i still consider him a great mate and a very witty adversary when it comes to "serving each other up" ;D Please dont pepper Mark with Complaints. Aim them at the source ( it might not always be me that your shitty with). So... Come on Mark. Get this "password" thing up and running The sooner the better i say.. Oh Yeah ....and come on guys and Girls . Keep the fun side of the forum floating in "Whatever" Yours Sincerely Reddo

Would people PLEASE stop saying things like "Reddo makes a lot of sense" or his postings are "damn funny at times" or they "enjoy his banter"!! Let's get this straight...reddo is our "cousin" (cue banjo music here ) who normally lives in a little shack out back. Mostly we can keep him out of sight but occasionally he breaks the lock and gets out on the road. People who come across him generally say to his Mum, "Durn, Maisie...Ain't seen nurthin' odder 'n that!" (and now you know how he got his name). Please, people, Do NOT encourage him! His poor Mum is at the end of her tether wondering how to keep him under control, and preferrably out of sight. Mark, any password will have to be just ONE character, otherwise our cousin will never be able to log in! Now, reddo, c'mon boy...back in the shed... ------------------------------------------------ Disclaimer: The opinions expressed above may not necessarily be the opinions of me personally. They may well be the opinion of the big bloke standing behind me with a piece of four-be-two in his hand and barking orders, "Now type this...!!" ------------------------------------------------ Onya reddo!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes, good idea Mark. If it means that the posts on the Whatever threads don't appear in the 'Last 25', and people that don't want to read the posts don't have to, then hopefully that will keep everyone happy. However, it should be noted that the posts in the Whatever section will still have to stay within some limits - no libel, no character assassination, no discussion of ebay prices , just good, clean (?) fun... Yeah...and no jokes about Don caravans over there EITHER!!... right, Don R.? Anybody posting jokes that lower the good name of the Don will be frowned upon, and severe action will DEFINITELY be taken!! For example, anything like this... Q: Back in the old days, why was owning a Don caravan like watching Don Bradman at the cricket?
A: In a very short time they both gave you the runs.... is totally, TOTALLY unacceptable, and the person posting will be frogmarched out the door before they can even say "But I meant to say 'Franklin'!!" You have been WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (righto, Don R, I think they understand now, and you shouldn't get any trouble from any of 'em. [...except that bloke from up north...no, not that one...the odder one...gawd, he's a worry... ;D ;D ]

Hang on Al, If you're going to tell Don jokes, you've got to get the punchline right: Q: Back in the old days, why was owning a Don caravan like watching Don Bradman at the cricket?
A: Because they both had the ability to get the runs on the board. ;D ;D ;D Hey that gives me a good idea...what about some caravan jokes to lighten things up: Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: Because it could see a FAIRWAY down the street. Boom boom. (That one's especially for Reddo) Q: What were the last words of Rhett Butler to Scarlet O'Hara in 'Gone with the Wind'?
A: FRANKLIN my dear, I don't give a damn.Just give me some time, and I am sure I can come up with some others... Did you hear the one about the Sunliner, the Ambassador and the Furness going into a caravan park and the Sunliner said...No? Not a good idea? OK I'll stop there. Don Ricardo

mmmmm ......plenty of positive replies here ......I take it that we want the "whatever" section passworded then So, what's the "board" description going to be and what would be an appropiate warning in the description I gather we still wish to use the section to discuss non V V related subjects .... as well as post potentially offensive jokes .....so we need an appropiate board description Mark

Hi Mark. I think by simply making it a two step process to get into "Whatever' that should be all that is needed. Those wishing to browse "Whatever" would simply click on "Whatever" and a automatically generated text box or something similar would appear with a brief warning that there may be offensive material on the other side of the door. . we would simply type in a password .. . ..."whatever" would do. Once we hit "Ok" or "enter" we are in. Simply by applying that 2 step process it will be a good enough barrier to make people realise that they are now in a zone where there may be offensive ( in thier eyes), non van related , "whatever. They have just come through 2 doors to enter the area and that is a big enough reminder of what may be ahead. I definitely agree that whatever appears in "Whatever" should not appear in the last 25 posts. It would be defeating the purpose of the double entry if people could just log on an scroll through the last 25 posts and be offended. Just do it. Oh bye the way Don R..." There are times when "shedding" a TEARDROP can be a good idea... IT STOPS THE ROT. ;D Reddo
