Hi everyone,
can anyone help with my Shields Jetflame. Having tested all the gas system, i was able to fire up everything today and discovered that the griller appears to have a partially blocked jet, to the extent that it is basically of no use. Does anyone know if suitable new LP jets can be sourced to suit?
Cheers Chris

Hi MC, without much knowledge of the exact component, can the blockage be cleared? I would expect it is possibly a rust or carbon build up on the cast iron? If so, removing the component and subjecting it to heat could 'burn off' or free up the matter which is causing the blockage. I could be miles off here, just a thought.......... Cheers, gristy

Hi Chris, I think gristy is on the right track. You've probably got some gunk build-up in the griller component, or the gas tap feeding the griller is partially blocked with something. The griller heating element can be separated out of the cooker and checked out for blockages. The gas tap feeding the griller can be checked. The following photos are of my Jetflame cooker. Red arrow points to the 'nipple' that can be unscrewed and checked and cleaned out. If gas still doesn't flow, you'll need to take the griller gas tap out of its position and dismantle it for a good clean. Word of warning here...yellow arrow points to gas thread sealant under the locking nut on all three control taps (see the red sealant?). If you break this sealant make sure you replace/repair it. Always check gas equipment with the soapy-water-brushed-on test afterwards. They are fairly simple gas systems, so whatever is causing the problem will be something simple. Hope this helps, cheers, Al.

Thanks for that Al, jet was partially blocked and is now clear and working fine. The tap is a little stuff and reluctant to "pop" out fully when turned off. I have the red sealant in a tube. Its what i resealed everyconnection i disturbed with. Did a full soapy test before i struck a match.
The fridge I asked about several months ago is also working perfectly!
I'll have a look at the tap and see what crap is in it...
Cheers Chris

Chris, I've never dismantled one of these types of taps, but have done so with Primus gear. I suspect there will be a rubber O-ring somewhere inside. Your gas retailer will have replacements if it's necessary to replace it. My griller gas tap is also reluctant to pop back out when shut off, so I'll be interested in knowing what you discover.
cheers, Al.
