Hi Trish, got your PM but unfortunately I can't readily give you an ID on this one. The pipe-type drawbar arrangement could perhaps put it into the "home-made group". I've looked through a collection of van photos on my computer and can't match it to anything I've got. If the $250 written on the wall is the sale price, then I hope you have already done the deal You can give it the letter 'U' for Unknown...only 23 more to go to complete the alphabet ;D Sorry I can't help more, Al.

HI Al, HELLLPPPP....they are breeding out of control! I already had a "h" for Hawthorn! I looked through the 'History Lane' Thread and couldnt find anything as round as this one or one with a chimney? It didn't follow me home just yet as the people who currently own it are not home and I'm not sure if they just purchsed it or were selling it before they moved house and it didn't sell so they had to bring it ? I am so intrigued as to what the chimney is for? I'll keep you informed and thanks for the quick reply! Cheers, Trish.

Hi Trish, given that most families would have holidayed in their vans over the Xmas-New Year period, many manufacturers thoughtfully put a chimney in their vans so that children wouldn't miss out on Santa. After Santa had finished with it, the chimney would be used for exhausting the heat/smoke/fumes from the cooking area. And you can slap me for being a smart*rse next time we meet ;D ;D cheers, Al.

I approcahed the owners of this van again and found out that they purchased it for $250 from someone near where they live in Laverton Vic. Its not for sale but they gave me a look inside, not much at all left except for icebox and a couple of cupboards. No cooker, cushions, beds, seats, kitchen table. They have a blank canvas to work on and were very revved up after I gave them a few ideas. The van is extremely heavy also.
Wouldnt be suprised if they turn up on the forum one day!!!
Van is in excellent condition but definately a home made job... so another one for that thread in history lane.
Cheers, Trish.
