Found these couple of vans tucked away in a former goldmining town in the hills above Traralgon (Gippsland, or is that Gristland ;D) today. One is a Wayfarer (12' with ply sides) and the other an ali with no identification. Fantastic little town (thanks Gristy for the tip) with heaps of history & mountain scenery. As it's in Gristy's backyard, I won't divulge the exact location (I wouldn't want to be accused of being in cahoots with grand poohbah and encouraging him to come and pinch more vans from under Victorian noses ;D ;D) Wayfarer........ unknown......... I would suggest that whilst both vans are out in the weather, the Wayfarer is certainly not beyond rescue and restoration (go Gristy, plenty of room next to your Viscount ;D ;D ;D) The unknown van appears to be used as a weekender. Howdy firefighter....I think the corrugated iron door was used to give that truly "Aussie" look and to throw another medium of caravan cladding into the mix ;D ;D ;D Hey Gristy....we went into Mallacoota today......what a great spot...met a few interesting characters including one chap who knows where a Sunliner is (somewhere on the Mornington Peninsula) and wondered whether it was worth persuing ;D ;D......we actually stayed at Genoa last night.....there is a former shire caravan park there which has clean toilets, cold showers but is free. Genoa is a bit of a ghost town now. Whippy, if you're chasing that Wayfarer, you might have to talk to Gristy to see if it's still available ;D ;D Daggsey (spotter of old caravans and other good stuff)

Gristy stated he has too many vans after acquiring the new one.
How old is the Wayfarer ?
Could you PM me it's location & I might get down there in a few weeks?

Got a phone call from an unhappy Whippy today......he tracked down the owner of the Wayfarer (above) after he had spoken to Gristy (who originally expressed interest) and I sent a PM to him regarding it's location. He was told by the owner that someone had recently phoned him from Sydney and had offered him a rather exhorbitant amount of money, sight unseen. I would hope that that person was not someone off this forum who has whiteanted Whippy.......might be "all's fair in love and war", but not very ethical . No doubt, if that person reads this, they probably won't advertise the fact that they have obtained this van. I will continue to photograph and post photos of vans that I find as I continue my trip around Oz, but I will not be giving any more clues as to location unless I get a PM from any interested parties. Some dirty dog has made me look like a goose Daggsey

Hey Daggsey, you certainly do anything wrong, if fact I really appreciate the opportunity you have given me.
I doubt the owner would sell it to the person from Sydney as I planted a few seeds. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I won't say anymore as this person may be on VV's.

Hi Whippy, Good luck in your quest for the Wayfarer ;D ;D Hope this all works out in your favour and that the dirty dog with the fat chequebook loses out big time . Of course, there is always the possibility that I am being unkind and there are no dirty dogs on this website and the owner is simply making up the story of another interested party because you have expressed an interest in buying. We have all seen or heard of that tactic being used before with real estate, cars etc when an approach is made to purchase something that is not necessarily on the market . Does this mean that if the original goose is Mark 1 ;D ;D, that I am goose Mark 11. ;D ;D Daggsey Licensed Broker, Daggotel Pre-loved Vintage Caravan Sales & Service (Aust)

Gidday Whippy, I hope you land the Wayfarer. Having worked in sales for years I have heard the 'better offer' line a million times - I'd take that with a grain of salt. Besides who in their right mind would attempt to drag a van out of there and all the way back to Sydney, after paying 'top dollar' - for the added cost and time, they could afford to buy two of them closer to home. Only be a matter of time before these people start getting phone calls from the shire there telling them to remove the vans (now theres some bargaining power for you!). Send me a pm if you do get the van, be good to try to catch up when you come to get it. Cheers, Gristy Convert to the aluminium way of life ;D ;D

Hi all, Still keeping my beady eyes open as we travel. Spotted this in a northern town in NSW......... Because of the earlier problems of me divulging on this forum in good faith, where these vans are and then having whiteant problems between prospective purchasers , anyone who is interested in chasing this van up, please PM me. It is important that these vans are saved, but I am not going to be party to having any forum member gain the information from me, buy the van and then promptly sell on a certain auction site after quizzing the forum as to it's value . Please refer to my earlier post, number 14 on this thread. I can now fully understand Mark's point. Daggsey
