Hi everyone. New here. I think this is my first post I have been following this sight for years. I am in the U.S.A. and have liked your caravans and cars for some time. Interested in building a small caravan (10-12 ft. long box size). I saw on a old post someone by the name Cobber had at one time had a list of campers with specs. Not there anymore. Is there a list somewhere else? Also when you refer to the length is that the camper length or with the tongue? Over here it has changed over time. Thanks for any help. You all stay safe. G’day Kim, The only list I can find that resembles what you describe is this one. vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/2955/caravan-specifications-1951-52-1962If that’s not the one you want let me know. The length of Caravans is usually measured along the side of the cabin ( excluding the “A” frame ) about one foot above the floor line. Good luck with your project, building your own small caravan, I assume it will be plywood construction ? Do you have diagrams or plans to work from and will it be based on traditional American designs ? Cobber.

Thank you for your response. Not good at this computer stuff but it was at one time on the General July 2004-2007 under Vintage caravan list on July 25 2007. Yes it will be plywood and I want a design from your country. I find alot of the ones from here are boring. Being that it is my first I want to build something small (10-12 foot long). I have a 5x10 frame right now. Eventuality I would like to build a Adventurer. Biggest problem is going to be windows unless I make wooden ones. Thanks for the list it will give me a good starting point. Kim

Hi and welcome Kim Good to hear there are "Lurkers" to this side from all over the world! The stuff that cobber sent you is a great starting point for you to then look at the caravan itself if you scroll through the "Down History Lane" section of the site. I built a baby gypsy style van a couple of years ago and funnily enough, got a lot of inspiration from American sites. Looks like we always look over the fence to what we think are greener pastures. I ended up with what is similar to our "drovers' hut" style. If you go to this link, it might help you with your own build, no matter what your final design is. vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/17226/meet-cino-vardoGood luck with your research

Thanks Roehm! The funny thing is I can't tell how big your caravans are just looking at a picture. Very nice gypsy wagon. We built a gypsy for a chicken coop. Thanks again. Kim
