Hi all Anybody out there know if it possible to shorten a jockey wheel, and if so, how? I want to take about 6 inches off one of mine to put onto my Propert. A standard one is too tall without hitting the bed shell. Ta Ray

G'day Ray, Hope I can help. I'm currently refurbishing a jockey wheel. First photo shows the separate parts... Second photo shows a close-up of Part B, showing the threaded "nut" welded in the top of the tubing... Final photo shows how the parts might be chopped to achieve what you want. You would need to re-weld parts B1 and B3 back together. Parts C and D seem a straightforward chop... Hope this is useful... cheers, Al.

G’day Ray Al & JBJ, After the great contributions from Al & JBJ to help solve you dilemma Ray I am reluctant to offer this miserable effort......... but Not sure why you want a standard type windup jockey wheel... the propert is so light ya just pick it up and put it down (on the tow ball). CAMEC now have their main distribution center and retail outlet about 10 min. from my place, so I dropped in to see what they had, if you are just after something to put on the “A” frame so you can wheel the van around have a look at www.alko.com.au/vehicle/jockey_wheels/boatwheels.htmlCAMEC don’t have anything shorter... you can search around the menu on that link to see what they do have ( CAMEC gets it’s stuff from ALKO ). Thanks guys!! Really helpful info there Al, and SOOOOO fast!! JBJ, I'll phone you. Cobber - I have got one of those wheel thingo's and it's as useless as the proverbial manboobs ;D ;D ;D. It also puts the van at the wrong angle. The van has a sprung leg for normal storage, but more often than not, that's not always the height I want for a level bed, hence I am hoping to adapt a jockey wheel. Thanks again guys Ray
