Hi Brenten
I had a lot of problems keeping the hatch on my Olympic down. I eventually used the rubber catches used on bonnets & industrial doors
They are easy to operate, & have solved the problem I had.
As regards period correctness, I remember them from the 50's, in various applications
They are available in different lengths I believe.
If you need photos, I can take some tomorrow & post here for you of my installation.

G'day Brenten, Does your hatch also need a 'holder upper' as well as a ' holder downer' There was discussion about them on this thread HERE Cobber.

Hi Brenten The catches I used aren't much bigger than those wind down ones, & don't come loose like the metal ones do. They were found on Ebay, & are about 50 mm long in the rubber body. I have tried the metal hold downs, & they kept coming undone while travelling. I find the rubber doesn't come undone if you install it in tension JBJ

G'day Brenten, If you're heading down that path maybe the cupboard / wardrobe bolt shown near the top of THIS PAGE might do the trick Cobber.
