G'day EnidB, This is another classic case of trying to work out what the heck a bit of hardware is called... After searching for various combinations of words, I've stumbled across them, and they are apparently referred to as a "drop leaf support" or a "spring loaded table leaf support". If you do a Google search for both those references, but add the word 'images' at the end of the reference, you'll see plenty of photos of them. Click on any of the images and it will take you to the website for the image. Most seem to be located in the US, but postage from the US can be a big killer. You could make enquiries to see if anybody in Australia stocks the item. cheers, Al.

I agree with cobber, Al. I tried to find them when I was dismantling the hardware on my van, and when I couldn't find them, (mainly because of the naming thing), I renovated what I had. At $12 its not a bad price either. Next time I go past a store I might pick one up.
Thanks for the lead
Ray

I noticed in some of the Google images that there was a version with a "ring pull" fitted at the joint... It seems that someone has tried to overcome the need to fit a handle like you guys have done. cheers, Al.

Hello and thank you so much for your research, and responses with links and contacts for suppliers. You have all saved the day :-D We are over in Healesville, Victoria and I am not sure how to put this up on an Avatar at this stage (will fix this later if I can). Slowly but surely, my van is coming to life again! After ringing around local caravan repairers, I have come to realise that by and large, they are not interested in fixing up old vans - so this forum and community is very special indeed. THANKYOU! EnibB

Hello, I found the drop leaf supports at Bunnings today for just over $11 each however they are a bit light weight but I will see if they will work on the weekend. If not, I will go get some heavy duty ones from USA the ones with the rings. Thanks again!
