Hi Again to All I am still in hospital and yesterday I was informed by my Specialist that I had a Embolic stroke on sunday 22/5 ( you can research embolic)Sometimes referred to as TIA -Transient ischaemic attack. I am now having treatment for this condition, and I consider myself very lucky not to lost the use of my left side. I am regaining the use of my left hand and 90-95% use of it again. I am not allowed to drive for a month, but I will get by using the bus service. Probably go home early next week, all being well. Cheers boblor

Hi VV family Yesterday I was diagnosed with 'a hole in the heart',just like the babies. Treatment from here has not been discussed at this time. I understand it is one less filter of blood clot to the brain. Could be serious???. I will comment further as I get info on my condition. Once again thanks for your support with phone calls and messages. Cheers boblor -- don,t worry too much I am in good hands and I will jump this hurdle.

Now trying to get used to the anti clotting drug 'Apixaban'. Received my dose of chemo. this morning and feeling ok. I am experiencing some pain in the legs when walk, but i guess this is with me for the rest of my life.I am not allowed to drive at this point, but maybe next week. Cheers boblor

Hi To my VV friends Well I never seem to out of trouble with my health.I will be entering hospital again on Tuesday 23/8 for a knee repair to a totally replaced knee in 2005.I am scheduled for 8 00am op. on Wednesday. My biggest problem according to my doctors is a possible heart attack during the op.However we will cross that bridge when we come to it, but is not a good feeling knowing this, but I must move on with less pain from the knee.I am told about two weeks in hospital. This year I have not been able to attend many VV events due to my health, chemo. most weeks and then the effects. With all this I am still on the right side of the grass, and hope to stay that way for little longer. Cheers for now. boblor

Hi To You All From Hospital Well my operation went better than all expected, no problems heart wise. My surgeon was able to do the repair to my knee as planned, I am progressing better than was expected, no pain management required after 'recovery' and schedule for discharge next Tuesday am, a week ealier than was planned. No driving for six weeks will slow me down. I have discussed with my surgeon about doing a 'total replacement' of my left knee late October or early November if i am fit enough. Come the New Year I may be able to hook up my van once more and do some travelling. Thanks again for your thoughs during my hurdles. Cheers boblor

Hi VVers and friends Time for another update. I have recovered well since my last op. (repairs to my right knee). I am still having chemotheraphy, but I am schedule for another operation on 27/10/16, this time a total knee replacement to my left knee. Currently finding it difficult to walk and in some pain.So later this week I can start driving again for a couple of weeks, then another 6 weeks spell following the next operation. This will no driving until mid December, so maybe I can do some visiting for Christmas with or without my van. My tumour marker continues to drop, which is good.My Medical Oncologist refers to me as his "miracle patient", because of the way I recover from each setback. He said to me on my last visit "we will work on the next twelve months", I said "know I want to be here when I am 80 years", his reply " ok we will work at it".That will give me another two and a half years, and some more caravanning I hope. It has been a sad week for me and my family as we celebrated the life of my eldest sister, who passed away on 24/9/'16. I will post my next update from hospital after the operation. Cheers boblor

Hi All Again Well the knee is repairing well, still some nerve pain being experienced. Having had to go off my chemo. and alternative medication, my tumour marker soon climbed and doubled from 9.9 to 19.0 over the month. So last wednesday week I recommenced tablet form chemo. (Stivarga 40mg regorafenib)., I have chosen this over infusion so that I can travel at Christmas to visit family and friends. This tablet form of chemo. does not come cheap, got a quote this week and works out at $50 a tablet, and a dose can be 1-4 tablets a day, I am taking one a day at this period. (a prescription is 84 tablets for $4200). At the moment I am using some I had left over from a previous program.I plan to monitor my tumour markers over the next couple of months and then discuss the next step with my Medical Oncologist. Planning to leave home with my caravan on 14/12 and perhaps return early March next year. I may visit Vic. and SA and families in Maitland /Newcastle area, I may make the Stockton VV outing. Cheers for now and I wish you all a Happy Christmas and New Year and thanks for your thoughts and visits during the past year. boblor

Hi All It is awhile since I have updated.By Feb. this year I was feeling the best in past 8 years and looking forward to some vintage caravaning. I attended a few events during Feb./March this year and get back the 'swing' of using my van. In Jan. I decided I would attend the Conway Beach event in May and booked in. I am still on expensive chemotherapy and not doing very well with my tumour markers, which have gone from 42 - 84 for the last readings. I was offered 'infused chemo.' but declined as I was feeling so good. On 19/4 I left on my six and a week trip to the Whitsundays staying with friends on the way north. How ever on the third morning 21/4 whilst packing my power lead into my car my right arm snapped just above the elbow. My planned trip stopped at that moment, ambulances were called and I was transported from Cooran to the Sunshine Coast University hospital. On Anzac day I was operated on and a'nail'was inserted from my shoulder to the elbow. bobandjacqui and my brother returned my car and van back to my home on monday 24/4, one worry over. bobandjacqui then returned to Bundaberg to continue on towards Conway Beach. I was discharged from hospital last friday and delivered to my home by my sister, where I have to rest for the next six to eight weeks and see the surgeon at Sunshine Coast. It is not good as something worse could have happened, so I now look for good recovery and get back on the road.My cancer, well I plan to stay on my tablet form of chemo for the time being regardless of the tumour marker reading as I am feeling good in myself. Like I always say 'do what you can whilst you can' as you do not know whats around the corner. Cheers to all. boblor

Hi Friends I posted an update last week but it disappeared from the forum. Here we go again. The week before I was in hospital with high temperature and servere pain with my broken right arm. Been home a week now and only starting in the last couple of days feeling ok, but I do not know where the cancer is up to except my tumour markers are climbing at a fast rate when last checked and I have stopped chemo. to give the arm a chance to mend.Over the past nine weeks the arm has showed no mending has occurred, and it is broken in three places. I now have to rely on outside help to get by my day, and I cannot drive. Do you know what,'its not the end of my world', as people like you and other keep me going. Like last thursday 'bobandjacqui' visited and spent some together including visiting the caravan park for the'Olympic Vintage Caravan' event to be held 1-3 September in Tweed Heads and lunch by the river. Today '2up' is visiting. I do not see myself driving until Christmas. Cheers now and enjoy your van whilst you are able. boblor
