Leisureliner by Carapark (Brisbane, Qld)

Hi everyone,

I purchased a van for restoration a few weeks ago and having so much trouble finding out any info on it.

Its a Carapark Leisureliner (Brisbane) PTY LTD.

From my research I can see that Carapark was in Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne but when I do any research on

that type of van , there is just no info. I am guessing it is somewhere between 1965-1970.Aluminuim framed,12ft,

rounded in shape...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a look through the Trove archives, and there is no mention of "Leisureliner" showing up. There was an Astor Leisure-line refrigerator launched on the market in 1961, but that's as close as I could get to Leisureliner.

Your post is the only mention on the whole forum with the word Leisureliner, so we've not heard of it before.

Looks like you've got a pretty rare van.

had a look on the web and found this reference to a carapark leisureliner in this blog "marieandtheappletree".

unfortunately a couple of pics don't show up on my computer but you migh be able to contact her and get some more pics and info.

Yes definatly looks like we have a rare one. last place I can look I guess might be the national museum.

Photos of a Leisureliner by Carapark van owned by Actshelly Dilligaf posted on the 'Carapark Caravans' Facebook page, and posted here with his permission:



































Actshelly Dilligaf's and Hides' Leisureliners (see above) are the first Leisureliners we've heard about and/or seen. They don't look like any other Carapark caravans I can think of, and we don't know anything about Carapark's Queensland factory at this point. As Carapark expanded its manufacturing activities outside NSW in the 60's they seem to have bought factories in other states from existing manufacturers. Is it possible that they bought a going concern in Queensland and branded an existing model range from that factory 'Leisureliner by Carapark'?

Can anyone tell us about Carapark's activities in Queensland? Or does anyone recognise the Leisureliner model?

Not often you see a van with three windows along the off-side like this one (as opposed to the small rectangular window normally over the galley). The door has obviously been replaced with something 'more modern'.

Unfortunately it looks as if the van has largely been stripped inside and used as storage, however, the photos do give some idea as to what its internal fittings may have been.
