That looks very nice in the daylight, thewhinge! And hasn't the van come up a treat after all the hard work! Well done to you and your pinstriping friend. Every time I look at your updates, I'm reminded of our Supalite vans over here. Not as sharp a radius on the corners as yours, but the triple windows front and rear give the same impression. I gather you are nowhere near where the flooding caught a great many people recently. Just a few puddles by the look of your photos. Lucky you, hey?! Congratulations on your efforts so far. Great work! cheers, Al.

Gosh it looks wintry over there! Van looks great. I like how you've done the joins vertically and made a feature out of the cover strips.

Gidday TW ! Mate your home build is coming up fantastic ! Love the shape and detail you have put in over the build. It's a credit to you Seeing it's an Aussie theme build may I suggest that you bang some snags on the barby to feed all the lackies that are helping you slap a coat on the old girl!!! It looks cold enough to freeze the walls off a brass Humpty! Cheers and well done!

G'day Harry,
Getting close now mate..... will you be taking off on your maiden voyage this coming summer ? Do you intend 'doing The Continent', is that why you've put the door on the wrong side ... the interior of this van is incredible, regarding both the quality of your woodwork and your mates wood staining and pin-striping skills.
As Al mentioned there is a slight resemblance to our Supalite vans (externally) but I also see a likeness to a few English vans from the fifties... like the 'Bluebird' , but obviously you haven't tried to copy either of them, she will be a conversation starter once you start travelling.
Cobber.

Hi Harry
Well done, I think you have built a whole van from scratch while I've been messing about trying to tart mine up with a bit of paint and sort out a few necessities, and I seem to be on a hiding to nothing with Broken Hill looming!
I had to chuckle that you had been waiting for a warm day to paint while on this side of the world I've been waiting for a some cool ones. They recommended I don't paint when it's over 25C, so if I don't have it done by about 10am it's too hot. I didn't notice anyone in shorts, tee shirt and flip flops for the warm day though!
Keep up the good work.
George

Thanks for you comments they are much appreciated, akeepsake it was warm by our standard lol about 12degrees,so thats a heatwave in March :)as for snags come the rally season a few will be eaten . cobber g'day to you yes its nearly there the reason the doors on that side is its the only way i can get into it when it will be stored in my garage, that's also the reason for its size 10ft x 6ft, i tried when building it to incorparate everything i like in a caravan especially your bondwoods but i didnt want to blatantly copy then down to a t if you know what i mean. griffin, thanks for you comments, you will get there mate keep at it ! send some of your weather over here lol it was snowing this morning over here!

This is a very impressive result, thewhinge! I think you've done a marvellous job with this project, including the wheel spats. The spats will certainly be a head-turner in your neck of the woods! cheers, Al.

And you've done it so quickly! What are you going to do with all the free time you'll have? Personally I dunno about the kangaroo; Kiwis are so much classier but everything else is fab!

G'day Thewhinge, The van is looking great - very 'Burwood' or, as others have said, 'Supalite'. And I like the spats and your mascot. That's a nice tribute to the Aussie influence on the design. Maybe we need to send you an Australian flag to fly beside the van as well? I can't believe what you've achieved in a relatively short time. You started back in late October, and hey presto you've got a completed van, or very close to it! That's pretty amazing progress. Some of us take that long to paint our vans (well, we do have to take some time to think about it, you know!). Now there's something I need to warn you about. Back in the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's, there was quite a few people in Australia who built themselves a van for their own use. Then the neighbour, their cousin, the local milkman (literally in one case) saw the van and offered to buy it...and before they knew it the builder had a queue waiting to buy vans as quick as they could build them...and then before they knew it again, they had a factory and were producing vans one after the other... So my warning is. now that you've built your first van and a few people have seen it, watch out for the queue outside your garage door! Anyway, as I said before - nice work, very nice work indeed. Any chance of your popping over for the V V Nationals at Broken Hill? It's a bit of a way to drive (and sail) but you would definitely receive a warm welcome. Don Ricardo

Hi TW
Although I'm presently vintage vanless (cos some bugger won't sell!), I am blown away by the pace and quality of what you achieved in such a short space of time. I was rather confused by the door placement until you explained it. I take it that you can have van doors on either side in your parts. Congratulations to you and all who helped you. for a job well done.
Happy travels

Hi,
You certainly have created an unique caravan, with a character of its own.
Good on you for building something out of your imagination.
It would be welcome at any of the vintage van events I've been to.

this is fantastic. I built mine as well. But it doesnt come anywhere near what you have done. You will be the pride of english van parks and once you put a hanky on your head and tie a knot in each corner you will be a true honorary Aussie Scoot
