Is there anyone who knows the regulations for the position of the gasbottle regulator, can it be horizontal or vertical, and does it need to be above the gasbottle or can it be mounted on the A frame which makes it level with the bottom of the bottle ? Any comment will be appreciated. Case.

Your safest bet is to employ a gas plumber as he should know all the regulations as they have changed in the last 18 months or so, and they are different rules for caravans to houses. And also get him to supply you with a gas certificate. It will cost you money but it will be well spent. Regards Gerald

I agree you really need a gas plumber to carry out any modifications to your gas fitting line to be covered by insurance and cover yourself should there ever be an inquest for any reason.
However to answer your general inquiry really old regulators used to be lead weighted (non-adjustable) and needed to be installed in the horizontal plane to allow the lead weight to operate. For some time now they are spring loaded (adjustable) and can be mounted in any position. They need to be installed as close as possible to the cylinder and should be on the cylinder to keep the high pressure side as short as possible.

I recently registered a van in QLD. I was required to change the single regulator to a dual. The regulator also had to be positioned so the hose flowed downhill to the bottle. The gas guy said this was to ensure any oils or moisture from the bottle remained in the bottle and didn't foul the regulator.

G'day case, When the dual regulators were introduced to the caravanning market, there were reports of the lining in the hoses perishing due to liquid LPG sitting in the hose for extended periods. This led to a recommendation issued by the Gas Authorities as to how to position the regulators to avoid this, and how to overcome the problem by using copper pigtails. You might like to read through this thread on the Classic forum, where we tossed this subject around for a bit, late last year: Gas Regulator positioncheers, Al.
