Hi fellow Broken Hill travellers. I stumbled upon the Warrawong on the Darling Caravan and Camping Park which is actually a farm stay sort of place. My thoughts are that as it is only 200klm from Broken Hill it would be a good place to stop and may be a bit different to the normal caravan parks in Wilcannia. It is 3klm from Wilcannia apparently with a short bit of dirt road from the highway. Powered sites are a bit pricey at $35/night and unpowered is $25 but what the heck it looks to be worth it. The owners have indicated that they are flexible with arrival and departure dates and a couple of us travelling from Canberra have booked to arrive on Saturday 26th April and depart Sunday 27th for the final leg to Broken Hill. Depending on how we are travelling we may arrive on the 25th and spend a lazy day on the Darling River and around Wilcannia. I have had trouble getting them to answer the phone but they respond to emails lynda@warrawongonthedarling.com.au outbackbeds.com.au/warrawong-on-the-darling.html#6-guest-bookwarrawongonthedarling.com.au/index.htmlKoala

G'day Ken,
I remember you mentioned this place before (you got shares in it have you ? they have another link that indicates the price is $20 ...... doesn't matter it looks like a good place to spend more than one night at.
I see you're going there on the way to BH.... I'm going to meet the Victorian mob at Mildura.

Cobber Hi Cobber, thought maybe some others would be looking for somewhere to stop as I have heard bad reports of the caravan parks in Wilcannia itself. Also an opportunity for a few of us to get together along the way. Have never been there but the feedback on some other sites has been good. I have confirmed that prices are $25 for unpowered sites and $35 for powered sites. Koala

When I was a child, we stayed at a tourist farm called 'Warrawong Farm'. They had corroboree dancing, donkey cart rides etc. I didn't have a very good time though, I fell out of the top bunk in the hired caravan & split my head open on the fridge & the next day the tail gate broke on the donkey cart & I fell out of that! I wonder if it's the same place?

Something I came across tonight on the internet - in 2011, ABC Broken Hill ran a series of programs (radio??) relating to the history of Broken Hill. There were 28 episodes created, and all of them can be found here: History of Broken HillRight Click on each episode and open it in a new tab/window. You'll see a summary of the episode, and you can download the mp3 soundtrack to hear the actual episode (Episode 1 runs for 16 minutes). Might be something of interest there for people attending the Nats. cheers, Al.

Hi organisers Just a question,
In 2012 at the Cowra Nationals, where I had a lovely day out, an caught this Vintage Vanners Disease really bad. There were market stalls on the Sunday. Just wondering if we are having market stalls on 27th April when the Broken Hill car club are visiting and we open our Caravans to public. Or can we have our own little stalls at our vans?

Hi All
Our friends from White Cliffs have been down in Melbourne visiting family members ...Burt called in last week...... they left for White Cliffs a few days ago ,they are stopping tonight at the tourist park in Broken Hill (were our nats are being held) I have send a box of name badge back with Burt to leave at the caravan park office
If any forum member arrives early for the nats ask (at the office) for a vintage caravan name badge you have to fill in your own name.....forum user name first then your first name
White Cliffs is about 280 kms from Broken Hill any forum members travelling through White cliffs on the way to the nats and would like a tour of Bert's open cut opal mine and have a poke around the tailings (Liz might even show you through the under ground house)
Or would like a tour of White Cliffs......Burt's mate is the local retired copper now days has a long white beard and a real bushy he will take you on a tour around the White Cliffs area
Send me a pm with your mobile no if you are interested

Hi - I'm sorry but the Caboodle and friend will not be able to make the hike to Broken Hill this year; discovered nose weight for my citroen berlingo was way over the Limit and so don't have a tow car; I did email the caravan park directly about 3 weeks ago but haven't heard back from them. Hope to join you all some time down the track, you seem like a fun and friendly crew. Sorry for any inconvenience. . Hope you have a great time and look forward to seeing the photos.

G'day f/f,
how many DVDs do we have time for ?
I'll bring a couple more English ones ... 'Classic Caravans on Show' which is about one of the 'Historic Caravan Clubs' rallies.... another English one 'Classic Caravans and Motor Homes' that has a bit about VW camper vans.... and an Aussie one about the 48 & FJ Holden Club's '1994 Great Caravan Caper'
And let's not forget the great DVD's made for us by dav01 of our Vintage Caravan forums 2010 Nationals at Mildura and, 2012 Nationals at Cowra, some newer members wouldn't know those DVDs existed.
Cobber.
BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE !
I've just re-discovered footage of the vintagecaravans.com 2006 'East Coast Tour' including a demonstration of the way 'Fugly' folds up and... a certain Driftw^^€ driving off with the door open And finishes up at Coledale 'party night' 2006.

G'day yspinner,
I only paid last week, not because I thought I might die before the event but.... because I forgot
No problems, they understood and were OK with it.
I hope you are able to get to the Nationals, just being there will make you feel better
