Hi Geoff,
sorry but at this stage I will not be attending the Nats.
No time, no money, no interest!
Hope you all have a great time - without me!
Leigh.

Not sure if I can attend either as yet.... we are currently in the process of acquiring parts to build a nearly totally new engine for Abby...hers kicked the proverbial bucket (not unexpected) a couple of weeks back.... and at this early stage have no idea if it will be finished and ready to tow in time. I might maybe if I'm really lucky be able to borrow my Dad's ute... but only if he's not using it... :/ Best remove me from the list as I'm not prepared to pay and possibly lose a deposit on a 'maybe'.

Best remove me from the list as I'm not prepared to pay and possibly lose a deposit on a 'maybe'. Penny_61. Quote from Firefighter Hi Penny 61 & Leigh
Thanks for letting us know you wont be attending the nats Not sure Penny 61 where you get the idea you wont receive your deposit back
Cheers f/f Hi F/F I’m not certain but would imagine that Penny 61 has read the Cancellation Policy info on Page 8 that you kindly found out for me - see below. Cancellation Policy Refunds are not given, unless the entire cancelled period can be re-booked without a break in the occupancy. All cancellations will be charged a $30.00 administration fee per site/cabin. To avoid any dissapointment we recommend that you take out the appropriate travel insurance.I haven’t actually spoken to Penny but do know from conversations with quite a few of the other forum members that they weren’t prepared to pay any money at all until they knew they were going to be a dead cert of attending. When you read the words "refunds are not given, unless the entire cancelled period can be re-booked without a break in the occupancy." We took that to mean that if I had booked the whole Friday to Sunday week i.e. 9 nights and then had to cancel and my replacement was only going to book in for the Monday to Friday i.e. 5 nights that I wouldn’t get my money back. So no doubt that would be why some people have still not paid any money. Regards Di

Looks like Di has a bee in her bonnet re the caravan parks deposit refund policy I would think all big caravan parks have a refund policy of some degree The caravan park in Broken Hill has told me the policy they have is only used for people booking CABINS and cancel Members please pay your deposit by 31st January and full payment in April
This is a busy caravan Park and is booked most nights It is the route a lot of people take going west to east or east to west across Australia and stop at BH While the nats are on in B H latter in the week the Agfair is on (this event is on every 2 years) Last Agfair had 300 sites and 10 thousand people through the gates ...People attending this event WANT our powered sites www.agfairbrokenhill.com.au/ Forum members that have already cancelled have had their deposits returned PLEASE pay your deposits the moderating team would like to see you and your VINTAGE CARAVAN at the nationals at Broken Hillf/f for your moderation team

As for "another members from up Qld way rang and cancelled" it wasn't me. Not sure who it was and yes I'm sure it would have been nice for the moderating team to be informed - but perhaps you can contact them via PM to deal with that. Regards Di

f/f for your moderation team
Hi F/F, It is mentioned on the forum occasionally that the moderators don't get much feedback or that they aren't kept in the loop. So I thought that by letting you know about some of the members concerns re: possibly not getting their deposit back, would help you with your planning of the event and/or your understanding of why some people still haven't paid anything yet. By the way, in case you think it is just a QLD thing. The conversations I had with other members were with forum members from VIC, NSW & QLD. It's great that you have now informed everyone that the cancellation policy only effects people booking cabins, hopefully that will make a difference to those waiting to book and pay for their site. But I really wonder why I bothered. As it's now very obvious to me why forum members don't bother keeping you in the loop or informing you of potential problems, if the reply they get for their efforts is you saying "Looks like Di has a bee in her bonnet re the caravan parks deposit refund policy". Geoff that is extremely condescending and infers that I am just the little woman!! Shame I wasn't standing next to you as you could have patted me on the head at the same time for effect !! Just so you know, No I don't have a bee in my bonnet about the refund policy. Bearing in mind that we had a family member pass away from Lung Cancer last week and the very next day my Step Mother in England was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer, so believe me when I say that we have much more important things going on in our lives at present than whether we attend the nationals or not and whether i've paid a deposit or not. As you know in my case I am waiting to have my leave signed off, which should happen next week when my boss returns to work. But we may need to change that and go to England instead. But don't worry - If I have to cancel, I will let the moderating team know as well as the caravan park. Regards Di

Hi F/F,
We are not able to attend and have notified the Broken hill caravan park via email, we did not have a deposit so there was no refund to worry about.
We had site no Bay 3 and our reference no was 66203.
We were the2supremes on this site but it wouldn't let us in so we are now the2liners.
Regards
Brendo & Stacey.

Hey, I too was under the assumption that the deposit would not be refunded. Unsure if it came from the Broken Hill mob or a previous VC event at KENDALLS on the south coast NSW. Luckily for me I was able to transfer my deposit to another VC member who booked, failing that the deposits at that & other council owned parks on the NSW south coast have the same policy. BEWARE & I hope that the VC members making the initial contact with these parks make it clear to members of the cancellation policies. Cheers, Sue
