Thank you for all the positive feed back. This little project that was just going to be a lick slick use it van ended up being a major rebuild the more we looked the more repairs was obvious. I kept saying to JB are we mad what are we doing ???but with his persistence and nine months of rebuilding we now have a great looking van that we are so happy with and the weekends of toil are behind us. My contribution was the tea and sandwiches. ;D So to JB I say thankyou Sue

Hi All, Well finally got the flooring laid by our friend Lee, who has done all our previous vans. Boots found this offcut at a flooring shop a few months back, & we both thought it would be right with the colours we had in mind. seeing the van has minimal floor area, she felt a simple pattern was better, with no lines to be aligned to one another. I think it works well. Last week we had the gas recertified & tidied up, with a bayonet outlet on the annex side fitted. sealed up the fridge area to comply. We do not have a stove inside the van, part of our philosophy of not cooking inside a van. Now hopefully the awning we pick up on tuesday will be perfect, & then its finished JBJ

Simply stunning. So fresh & light, you'd have to be happy sitting in this van enjoying your morning cuppa. Congrats on a job well done.

Hi JBJ and Boots
What a big change from the early shots of the Styleleader with the faded blue stripes and arrow, and the permanently affixed flyscreen on the hatch. It just shows how much you can achieve with a bit of vision and patience.
SGTL is absolutely right - the new colours really brighten the interior, and make it look so cool and fresh. The old brown doors did close it it more, and rejigging the kitchen has made it look much more modern.
The work you've both done to bring the Olympic back to her best is really exceptional. You have every reason to be pleased with the results - and I think Ethel will be quite the talking point in the camps when you hit the road.
Wonderful results! Seeshell

Hi Greedy,
There are lots of suppliers out there still, & I have bought a lot of bits from Camec in Caringbah, who still send out by Aust. Post.
I found the pushrods I needed that were unavailable any more from Camec, by ringing some of the larger Caravan dealers in nearby larger towns. Watson caravans Coffs Harbour had 9(which I bought), & Watsons Port Macquarie had 15 (so I bought 6 of them)
Like everything, bits are where you can find them.

Hi All, Well we finally got to use Ethel last weekend. We towed her to Fishing Haven, near Yamba, for a 3 day stay. As previously discussed in Sutcacs Caravan Park comments, its $30 a night. One big thing with it (from our older person point of view) is that it doesnt pool or jumping castle, etc, & as such doesnt fill up with kids in the school holidays, like all of the other parks in yamba. So we bought an older canvas annex from Bobandjacqui, & got our canvas guy next door to us to put a new sail rope & rope ends on. It fits perfect. The fishing is not great at present, but certainly is peaceful. You have to eat fish at Fishing Haven I reckon, so I went & caught these fillets. Outside cooking is what we prefer with our vans This is Ethel, & she travels with us Happily everything worked as we hoped, with exception of one power point. The fridge works fantastic on 240 volt, & is better than I expected. The slide out table is small, but big enough for 2 people to eat on. So now back home, several small bits to redo, but generally 98% happy with how everything has turned out. JBJ
