Hi all,
Now that I have your attention ;D ;D I need some help.
I have been trying without success to purchase some screws to use on my Propert.
What I am after is some stainless, flathead, 20mm x 3 gauge (1/8'') screws. I need to attach some angle mould and some J mould, so am guessing that I would need approx 80 screws in all, but would be happy with even just 20 to begin with to put on the angle mould.
Every supplier that I have been to has 6 guage as the smallest size available.
Does anyone out there have a stash of these screws that they are prepared to part with.
I am happy to pay for the screws plus postage etc etc.
Many thanks Di xx

Hi Dianne
Classic Fasteners have 4 guage in stainless, but I found the stainless screws are self tappers, not wood screws. Very similar. I also found that if you were replacing a screw, it seemed to work better using the next size up. ( God I can imagine what Benny Hill would have done with this message)
I have also found that they sometimes have a few odd sizes not shown in their catalogue.
I can recommend them as being honest & good to deal with.

G'day Di, I think you have a "typo" in your details, but I don't know which number is the typo. #3 gauge screws aren't 1/8", #5 gauge screws are. Is it the gauge number you're looking for, or the 1/8" shank diameter? A similar question to yours was asked by humpty2 back in June this year (click here ), so you could try all the suggestions in that thread as well. You could also drool over all these chrome-plated brass screws available in the UK on ebay . They even have slotted heads on them. cheers, Al. Oops, I meant to add in the post that if you really want stainless steel, you can have a look at this mob in the USA. Slotted heads as well. The current Aussie dollar makes good buying in the US if you can't find what you want locally.

Hi Di I got my screws from Keables in Melbourne. They have a website and full catalogue of what stock they carry www.keables.com.auIf you get flatheads, you would have to countersink them, otherwise you will catch things (fingers especially) on the edge. Would have thought that roundhead ones would be better. They will post them for you and their costs are quite reasonable. Amongst other things, I bought 100 4 gauge by half inch stainless flatheads for $20. They have a minimum order of $27.50 and only sell in lots of 100. Ray

I just read your thread again Di. You didn't specify that you actually wanted slothead screws. If you're looking for PH, then most nut and bolt specialists will stock what you're after. When I lived in Hervey Bay, I had no problem getting special sizes at the local place.
AND AS PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS WERE INVENTED IN THE 1930's they would be era appropriate anyway ;D ;D ;D ;D

G'Day Di and others
I have been looking for "raised countersunk slotted self tapping screws"in stainless steel and have come accross a company in Brisbane that seems to have a fairly significant range of fasteners. Have only spoken on phone, but they seem to have what i want. Hope to get there next week. The company is Anzor.com.au only been going for 9 months. Ray, seeing that Phillips head have been around so long i wonder why the caravan companies wern,t using them even in the late 60's ie Viscount.

Enough of the silly stuff. As i said earlier i had found a nut/ bolt supplier in Brisbane that seemed to have what i was looking for ie "raised head countersunk self tapping stainless steel" screws. I have since purchased these and asking about other style screws it appears they have them all. Pan head, countersunk whatever, in varying lengths and all in stainless steel. Perhaps the appropriate person on the forum could add them to the list of suppliers in the appropriate section. The company is ANZOR. www.anzor.com.au. Located in Acacia Ridge Brisbane. There specialty is supplying the marine industry with stainless products. There wall chart alone lists about 400 items. Cheers Colin

G'Day Cobber,
re Anzor: "slot head wood screw"
Appears to be only one "wood screw" listing, 18gx50-100mm. Their various self tappers are listed for metal or wood. There is a product search box on top right of home page, or under the "home" tab on left side a products listing. Click screws, scroll down page to stainless screws for timber. The "new online catologue" must be, i don,t rember seeing it before. I will phone them in the next couple of days re wood screws and let you know the result. Cheers

Re Slot Head Woodscrews
G'Day Cobber, I have spoken to the people at ANZOR and the only true wood screw they list is a special made for a particular application.
They list self tappers for wood and do have the various head configerations ie c/sunk, raised head c/sunk, pan head all in slot drive or phillips. As their market is the marine industry boat builders either have no option or it's industry standard i guess.

Thanks Colin, It would appear that most marine supply places would stock that stainless steel stuff.....so I won't add Anzor to our list, don't want it to get more complicated than it already is and ....... don't want to put google out of business Cobber.
