From the pages of Vintage Trucks & Commercials - The caption reads:Carrying a backload of 14 ton of tarped up salt from Price SA and three plywood caravans heading back to Sydney. You were allowed to sleep in the caravans on the condition you took your boots off".

G'day gordon, It's probably some Globetrotters going to the saleyard in Miranda, or Windcutters going to Castle caravans. The photo would have to be from the early '60s if it was Globetrotters going to Miranda. They didn't last long in the Sydney market (Viscount and Millard squeezed everybody out). Pretty snazzy truck with whitewall tyres! Not often seen on trucks, are they?? cheers, Al.

Hi Franklin1 and DC3Td, I reckon Franklin1's second suggestion is the one - Windcutters going to Castle. I don't think the shape is right for Globetrotters - not high enough in the roof - but does look right for the Windcutters. The livery, stone guards and spats fit the bill for Windcutters. Very nice find by the way DC3Td! Don Ricardo

HI All My father sent Broadway vans to Melbourne on trucks like this they usuall had bags of Adelaide Cement on the bottom .He would tow the vans over to the Mile End railway station and up on to the platform the truck would back up to the plat form then they would put a couple of planks over the gap and to take up any differance in height then push the vans onto the truck Ray
