Hi All At the risk of getting fiitted with an ëjection seat" from the moderators i figured i might mention something i bought the other week after being alerted to it by a forum members post under "Ebay stuff". B4 yas all get all fired up about non vint van content i thought i might state why i bought it. Some of you may remember the old "Lambton Van "i bought home and set about modifying to take a vintage bike and .. still be able to use it as a van when the bike was unloaded.. shock horror.. a modified vint van.... Hey.. we are all guilty of some sort of mod .. to some degree... Some hardly noticable ( except to Cobber) and some pretty god damn radical. So.. after i gave up on the Bike hauler /vint van idea i kept carting my bikes around in a box trailer.. the idea of a vint van STYLE bike hauler as stuck with me...Us modifiers never rest so when i seen this.. www.ebay.com.au/itm/260964419821?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649I figured it was time to get the slide rule and axe back out ... and without damaging another vint van i should be able to achieve a likeness to what i have planned in the back of my mind... Comes with 4 sheets of aluminium cladding and all the chandlery to pretty much get it to lock up... It has been sandblasted and primed since those photos where taken... Got yucky commodore hubs and stubs,, even a replica desreves 34 chev wires ( same stud pattern as my FB Holden panno as i found in the other TD i built years ago) Again i apologise if this offends anyone...To set your mind at rest i wont bring it to any vin van related shows or events...unless i park somewhere aloof / outta the way.. unload my old clunker bike and cycle off for the weekend. just thought its build might be of interest to a select few.. maybe it should be ousted to "Whatever".. again mods call. If the thread stays .. well then.. i will give you guys an update on the non vint van project starting with its retrieval from the central coast this weekend.. If .. It does dissapear of the forum radar i will understand why it has happened.. No wuckers.... moderators have to earn a living too.ya know Reddo

Put me down as being interested in watching the build up Reddo, always good to see something different being done in my opinion.
Cheers Doug.

Hi Reddo
Sounds nifty. How many Nortons will you be able to fit in it? Is the plan to still get it to double as your home away from home or just be a toy hauler?
Cheers Seeshell

hi Reddo,
I'm with you on this one. Most replica teardrops are nowhere near authentic in shape, & at least this one has a good shape. They are always going to be a replica, but so what. If looks like a duck I'll get my shotgun out & have a go at it.
Go for it.
Up here in SE Qld we dont reject people that want to turn up just because they havent got a genuine vintage van. The people are just as important as the vans in my eyes.

G'day Roehm 3108 Part of your posting........is interesting Wonder how our moderators will moderate themselves out of this one with any degree of moderation What ever decision the team makes......... with 1500 members the moderation team cannot please them all I did see the posting when this was posted by one of our members in our e bay section on the forum ....and I removed it hoping nobody from the fourm would buy it and post on here they now own this modern caravan shell RAY .......you are an old hand on the forum ......why don't you give the moderators your thoughts on what action the mod team should take......... if any .....when all the mod team has been online and read Reddos thread we might have a discussion about it.......and we will take on board your thoughts Ray cheers f/f ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Reddo, Go for it. I for one have sorely missed the stories and trips that you used to write about and the accompanying photos i.e. Ken Kennedy, the chickens, various animals drinking from bottles of beer. As well as your resto's of various van and cars. Your threads could always guarantee a good belly laugh and would brighten up our day. ;D ;D ;D ;D As far as this teardrop/trailer/resto is concerned. I'm certain most of us will learn a thing or two. When I decided it was time to work on my 54 homemade van, I looked back on the forum at other peoples restos as well as talking to other members in order to confirm that I was going about it the right way. So I think it's all good. Regards Di

Hey Mods.. why not move the thread to .. "Whatever" Two things come from that... One......It is removed from "Members photo album"where all good vintage van restos should be posted..... Two.... I am of the belief ( correct me if i am wrong about this rule) that if a thread on whatever has no posts added to it within one month then it is wiped off the forum.... The upside of that idea will be that it will keep me motivated to do work on the Replica and post info and pixs..... çause if i dont it will be goneski... By gingo by crikeys i look after you moderators.... ;D ;D Other news.... about 4 months ago i got the mail on a vintage van in the back yard of a Lake Macquarie house that was to be sold. I went and had a look....Slako me reniged on hauling it out through the neighbours fence so.....i passed on the address to a member of the car club i am involved in. He done the hard yards and took it home. He phoned me today to say he needed to sell the van as he needs the dosh . Long story short... i have to go check it out again tomorrow afternoon ( with a view to buying it.. ..) after i bring the "Not everyones cup of tea TD "home. Will bung up a few pxs of the gear that comes with the TD .. and maybe a few pixs on a seperate thread....saaaay... members photo album of the old bondy i might be hauling home .... Hugs and kisses for the mods...see ya whenever in "Whatever"".. its your call dudes.... ;D Regards Reddo ;D

Orright, orright you lot! Gee, we moderators have to eat and sleep and things just like you! Give us a chance. ;D ;D ;D When Reddo asks so nicely, how can we refuse? The thread is moved. And besides...the moderators enjoy Reddo's adventures as much as the next V V'er (most of the time ), and are looking forward to sitting back and going along for the ride just like the rest of you. As various people have pointed out on the open forum and by PM, the thread doesn't involve a vintage caravan. But that doesn't mean it isn't of interest, as shown by the fact that lots of people have already pulled their armchair up to the computer screen waiting for the next episode. So...the place for it is "Whatever". And don't be concerned - the thread won't be deleted after 30 days (shouldn't have said that - now Reddo will lose his motivational tool to keep going with the project! ). No, it's here until the end of time...unless it really goes downhill and off track - and we all know that would never happen with one of Reddo's threads, would it. ;D ;D ;D Don Ricardo for the moderators

;D ;D ;D "As various people have pointed out on the open forum and by PM, the thread doesn't involve a vintage caravan"..... I figured they would be out there..... thats why i got in first on ... The open forum. and suggested we move it to whatever.... No side street replys or whistleblowers required.... ;D My apologies to the mods should have aimed for the correct section in the first place. Thanks mods. Read more: vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=9745&page=1#ixzz1o291oiA9

Hi Al Thanks for the link to the bike hauler..Bit of work gone into that.....But... jut wouldnt look "Right"behind the FB panno or the FJ ute..... My son Luke and i took a trip to Somersby yesterday and collected the TD rolling shell...all the door mechs... tailgate struts etc ..plus 3 huge sheets of aluminum ... 3500mm x 1500 mm Roof of TD will almost certainly be aluminium. Still to decide on ply or alloy sides... The seller .. Rod Martin is a nice bloke ... has a 34 chopped chev hotrod and a "Collection room " that is to die for. Hasa recently moved his cycle business back home and is trading from there...A very skilled man with a lot of great projects on the go... The TD frame is testament to those skillls.. A few pixs.. Will have to set the TD aside for a while.. i have to get the 2 front gaurds off the panelvan so that the beater can make a start on the rust repairs around the firewall and gaurds etc and get them plated and back on the car /resprayed before Cowra Meanwhile ... there will be lots of "doodling "on paper to try and sort out foldaway beds.. foldaway kitchen ... bike ramps and tie down points for the TD. Need to be able to camp comfortably when the bike is removed from the TD. I think air bed fitted to fold down frame from wall ... inflated by onboard compressor will be a better option than full sized double bed sponge mattress stuffed in thier with a motor bike... More some other time. Regards Reddo

very interesting looking van, very keen to see how the bike hauler idea works out. Here's a suggestion for a rather radical motorbike floor option: www.rightpriceconversions.com.au/

Hi Conti..... mmmmmmmmmmm... anonymous admirers get lotsa free drinks at Cowra.. it is worth being an anonymous admirer..... Matter of fact i actually sat down the yard on this most perfect of Autuminal Newcastle days today and done some seriuos customising.....in my head ... while sucking on beer and .. looking at the "Cuppatea TD"...... Mind you ... nothing actually happened ... but i did have some nice thoughts Went and looked at two old vans today that i was told about at last saturdays Kurri Nostalgia festival. One is 4.8 mteres long by 2.1 metres wide... a big bondy. Entry door at left rear corner.. front bed... room for a crappa / shower.. weighs 700KG. Owner is keen to sell.. bit big for your average Aussie towcar.... but worth saving. Other van is a little 10ft roundy fine diamond style alloy van... with a lot of timber rot. One for the brave hearted. End result.. i have to go back tomorrow and bring home a mid 60s Bultaco Metralla.. ( its a modaboik ) Gotta go now..... need ta make a cuppa tea.. though not everyones cuppa tea mind you.... Reddo..... forever the thorn in the moderators side ;D ;D ;D ;D
