;D Hi Simon Welcome to the forum. Your Globe looks like a straight forward resto . She will look sweet behind the rod... Love that Red. I had a 1971 Norton commando fastback that was a similar colour. Sort of Mid Candy Apple Red..... Very nice car. Keep us posted on the resto of the Globe . Reddo... Newcastle

Hi Simon, nice old Globe you've got there. If it has to match the high standard of the car then you've certainly got some work ahead of you. What a beauty!!
Is there any chance you could have a look on the front drawbar and see if there's a chassis number there somewhere? Will probably be a four digit number, starting 1xxx. It'll help us collect another number for our History section on the Globe Trotters.
Thanks, and cheers, Al.

Depends what look your after. Originally it would have looked something like this.... vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=photo&thread=1436&page=1Because your car is more of a hotrod I think it could look a little funny having a tough as nails car with a original looking van behind it with 13x 5.5 holden rims with caps and white walls etc. If I were doing it I would do it the same paint design as the Globey I pictured with all the original stickers etc but replace the blue with the same purple as your ford. that way it will look like it belongs behind your tow car but will still pay homage to the Globetrotter heritage. Wheels would look best if they were the same as the Ford but might be an issue trying to get them small enough to fit in the Globey's wheelarch. As far as a serial number if this is the same one as what was listed on ebay a little while ago it will have 603 on the coupling. For more info on Globetrotters have a look here. vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=chat&action=display&thread=2268&page=1Hope this helps.

Hi mad 34f, I have been thinking about your van and I realised that your paint scheme probably looked more like this: vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=forsale2&action=display&thread=4420Tonight when I logged on here to tell you this I looked over your photos again and realised that now it's sanded back you can make out the original flash design. Oops! sorry to lead you astray! I still think with your flash design that it woud look real good painted purple with the rest of the van maybe an off white. Good luck with the resto! Andrew

Hi Simon The Globe is a nice choice of a van I reckon and I love the Rod towcar . I'll just have to get a vehicle sometime soon, but it will be a bit toned down from yours, have to remember my age even if I feel 20 years younger ;D ;D Ron

G'day Simon, I was just checking some Globe Trotter information on my computer, and back when your van was listed on ebay, the seller told me the chassis number was 1281. If you can't see the number on the drawbar, then maybe the seller got it off a rego label or something else on the van?? The 603 on the coupling is some sort of 'part number' or 'design number' for the coupling. The same number appears on other Globe Trotter couplings. I seem to remember that the number changed to 605 at some point in time (...but maybe my memory is playing tricks on me ) cheers, Al.
