OMG.....I sure have missed a lot Carly!! Incredible....I have read every word & as usual with your posts...awestruck. You are thorough, informative, motivated like crazy & put me to shame! I need to repaint Colin/Scarlett very soon...which is why I have been scurrying around the site...have been unbelievably busy the past 18 mths with work, weddings, funerals, overseas a few times...you name it (and then we were hit with a wedding at Christmas.... our daughter will be married this coming Nov & so I have been concerntrating on her wants as far as organising a "vintage/country/CWA type wedding affair to be held on her soon to be in-lawns property in Bendigo-the normal stuff a wedding entails...making mason jar candles (200 of the suckers) and vintage fabric bunting (150 mteres of that! Why, why, why....Har!) grrrr --- we have been just too exhausted to think about repainting til now! But the weather has finally improved!! So I have to find the time to paint him/her! BUT...Ummm...have I missed something with your Olympic.....have been searching for something to give me a clue...anything...but I haven't found it yet! Did you sell it for "the blue flyer"? Which I LOVE but I thought the fibreglass little number was gorgeous also! AND no I still haven't gotten around to doing something with the old annex....far out....not enough hours in the day! But I admire and congratulate you both on such determination to have your beautiful van completed.....awesome work you have done. Finished yet? Finished yet? I was thinking of selling Colin/Scarlett.....slap me....what was I thinking! You & getting back into the forum have inspired me to get my butt into gear, stop procrastinating & repaint & take him/her on another jaunt before the weather turns! Have you any recent photo's if your vv is finished? Best wishes.....J

I have seen hidden in the trees a few vans and one looks similar in shape as your pic's....on our way to the Yarra Valley (I think out Yelingbo/Macclesfield way? Victoria that is) ....unfortunately, it was only a passing glimpse/flash as the boy was doing 100 mile an hour!!! Yes, on the Augusta....I did belt him on the helmet...but he thinks I am swatting bugs! Next time we go to Warburton etc...I will get him to actually stop and stalk the place....they are hidden amongst gums & pine trees and probably some old guy with a loaded shotgun cause the property is filled with old cars/caravans etc.....but I am SURE it's the above shape! I have an original perfect cond, heavy as, "circus striped" annex that was given to me for vv.....still haven't gotten around to sorting out marconi clips or sail track to suit....that was twelve months ago! Now have daughters wedding to organise.....mmmmm.....that much???

AND LEFT THE FURNITURE? WHAT THE? I am crying here!!!! But I am so glad there are people like us that love all this retro old stuff and are willing to go to any lengths to SAVE IT!!! A Bulldozer.....far out! Was that a g*n I saw lying there? Left in a shed? Hope the shed was locked! As kids growing up, we loved playing in old abandoned properties! Never found one of those however! Probably a good thing for the rabbits! To think that van was hidden in the undergrowth just down the road from me!!!! Now where was that Don, sounded like it was just down the road also!

We are seriously considering one to tow our vv but wasn't sure if it would do the job! We like stangs, camaro's, corvettes, XY's, FB's, etc etc....and have been looking...looking....but those Kombi utes are just so cute....would love to see a pic of kombi/caravan together or have I missed it in Tow Car section? Glad you are enjoying van/kombi & of course dancing! LIFE be in it I say!

Well Dave....I love this van...I am hoping you may keep the assorted colours of the cupboard doors...for some reason they are appealing in this van! Have you finished the wayfarer yet? What colours are you painting this van? I laughed at the thought of you in thongs and hot paint strips then sobered very quickly.....I will need to strip and repaint my vv by next summer....NOT looking forward to that dilemma....POST more pics........

I love the interior of your van hippychik.......and very envious of your combi to tow it with! It IS exciting when you have discovered something you can donate your energy/passion towards....and THIS IS the place to share your journey. So keep posting those updates. These guys are knowledgeable, generous with their time and will help you with advice on anything you ask of them! I should know....I drove them batty twelve months ago when I redid my vv & I still throw a few curly questions at em!! I sincerely hope you find out what you have....I still really don't know what mine is but it has not for a moment stopped my blinding love for my vv!

Now here is something....the guys that gave us the annex tried to explain to us today that the marconi clips on the said annex "clip" into a fixture on the van....you then turn the marconi clip to secure!! Which is why the marconi clip/loop is moulded all in one brass fitting, sewn on and is loose to enable ease of turning.....Has anyone heard of this method of attachment before? Cause now I am sure confused about the whole "tracking" thing......I have a feeling the lady has it wrong....but....it was her late father's annex and I guess she should know!

Seeshell...I have "lost" your email as I have changed laptops! I need the tracking to be 1" in width and the vv is about 12ft......if you have some....I would LOVE to buy it from you! Is it brass? J

Well....hello....Dawso....20ft of it hey? Please, please, where do you live? I only want about...mmmm....I don't really know!!! The vv is about 12ft 6" in length but if you live say....Melbourne somewhere??... and it is about 1" wide tracking....and you really don't want it...well what more can I say! Cobber is right....you could have in your shed a goldmine of tracking!!! J

Hello Bob and Jacqui....yes the clips are about an inch! I NEED YOUR tracking from your Olympic!!!!...Hee hee!
Where do you live again? Joking!
It is the tracking on my vv that is totally wrong! The tracking is for the cord style annex. As I was given the annex (by a couple who were our local newsagents in Brighton...it was the wife's father's and they knew I had recently recond a vintage van...they wanted me to have it!) it's in such fantastic condition...complete with the "gyspy" multi stripes, I really would like to keep the authenticity of attaching it to vv. Otherwise, I feel as if I am betraying their generosity...they were so happy for it to be used on a vv bondy like Bron's dad's!
No guys.....the van was sold after his passing!
I will persevere with finding the correct tracking....hopefully firefighter will come thru....and patiently thread it on (Cobber!) when it all comes together! J

You have been busy Cobber! I have something in a marconi slide that is different again to all of the above. Which I will post a pic as soon as I can!! My little cuties are brass with the loop at the top which has been molded in all brass in one go! Then they have been sewn onto the canvas annex....you will see what I mean when I post the pic. J

Actually guys...I think I should take a photo of the cutesy little brass things on the annex and show you! Have to wait for that however as "the boy" has taken the phone with him this morning! But I am pretty sure Cobber it is the brass marconi railing in second pic I need! J

Yes, yes, yes....picture tells a thousand stories!!! First pic looks like what I need.....second pic is what I have! The two that I have do not happily co-exist together....found that out. But by turning the little cutesy fittings up the other way...it seems to hold on better. Wouldn't want a gust of wind however! AND the "flap" that is suppose to sit flat to the roof sags and won't sit properly. So...firefighter if Leigh does does not want the tracking you have I would love to buy it from you! My vv is about 12ft or so long so I am not sure what length I should have? The rounded tracking, to me, doesn't seem to come down far enough at the front of vv but maybe the prev owners matched it to the annex they had. Which didn't come with the vv when I bought it....Taking vv to Black Spur Caravan park this Aust Day w/end...so I shall take a few pics....The annex as is will do the job for that w/end cause it is suppose to be lovely weather! Fingers crossed.....but need the proper tracking....so a big thankyou firefighter for your kind offer! If Leigh wants it then I shall pursue other avenues and find a chandlery and see what they have.... Sometimes I do wonder...why?...why?...why?....J

So you lot, what has been happening? Haven't been on for a while...could not remember password & that stupid "see if your a human" thing would NOT activate for me to retrieve it....till now! But I'm Baaaack! A story?...yes?....ok..it's late....here is a bedtime story for you... I was lucky enough to be given an authentic 1960's annex for vv. It is in top condition, has all the wooden (sturdy as) poles. All I had to do was buy ropes.....not a problem. Big RV Superstore has opened up ten mins away! All I had to do was put it up and click it on! Sounded simple...NOT! It has old brass "d" flat shaped, sewn on fittings.... Up on the wobbly ladder (not good with heights) and haul it up.. Man these old canvas things are heavy...phew.... Looked at little ol brass thing and looked at the railing thing on top of vv.... Mmmm.....this does not look good....this does not look right at all... It is really hot up here.....like really hot....struggling, struggling with something that is as heavy as an elephant..... After several attempts... Voila.....3 clips on..... Half an later all clips on..... Next poles ..... Next unwind, try to straighten curly ropes...... How do these things work again....Mmmm.....remember, remember...childhood holidays... are yes...mind you that was a LONG time ago... Memory finally kicks in and ropes are on...... Damn pegs are too lightweight.....this thing is HEAVY Scrounging, scrounging.....found 4 steel rods from "the boys" shed... but they are straight......damn again... Back to shed...mmmm....vice, small sledge hammer....idea is forming... hope he wasn't planning on using them for something...cause they aren't straight any longer....very happy with thy self Pegs in, ropes on, pull up wooden toggles....and... Yes your right, ping, ping..ping...ping...collapse... No, not the ropes...the brass fittings, pinging out of tracking! I stand there in total, absolute, disgust....2 hours wasted... Obviously the rounded tracking is all wrong for these fittings... Yes...der.... I hear you say! Soooo.....where, how, what am I looking for? Do I ditch the brass fittings...awww...really?... they're very oldie cutesy looking...and buy whatever it is that suits the tracking on vv... Do I ditch the tracking & try and find the impossible? I am sure it will fit quite well if the correct ingredients were there! HELP!!!!! J

Haven't been on for awhile....now you probably remember that there was a fair bit of head scratching as to what I have and what it is but the "guru's" came up with a 1958/59 Coronet. The above caravan is exactly the same shape, the same wheel arch definition, the same screen door and underneath the vents etc you can make out the original paint stripe around the van. We originally thought it was a Franklin but I was assured by Hughdeani who had a peek at pic's it was a Coronet. Would have been interesting to see the interior and see if the layout is the same as mine! J

Hey hey hey Seeshell.....have caught up with your adventure on Seeshell #1....good grief you have had some interesting times with fibreglass. Haven't been on for a while...work, work no play unfortunately! BUT you are getting there. What an amazing fete you two have achieved. I loved what Retro64 said...all in a nutshell actually....blank canvas to stamp your own personality in to it! Keep going with that enthusiasm....just think of the end result....the weather is on the improve (I think!)..........J
