On the NATS 2014 tour poor Bessie had a wardrobe malfunction and her wardrobe door fell off. Along with this the charger for the 12v battery has died.

So last weekend I got stuck into fixing up both problems, starting with the charger. I won't boar you too much but basically I removed it, pulled it apart and replaced the blown component a MOV which is a component designed to go to a short circuit when it is hit by a voltage spike.





As for the wardrobe door I had done a temporary repair at Wedderburn the starting point for the Mexican tour to the NATS 2014. Now that I am back and have a good array of tools available I decided to replace the pine with a more sturdy hard wood. I started off milling down some of the wood I got nature strip shopping a while ago. This good old wood came off the roofing battens in the house up the road when they had their roof replaced under insurance. I've used this stuff a few times in Bessie now as it is good wood, when you remove the top layers. Hence I planed the ruff off the outside and cut it to shape







I cleaned up the holes I had chiseled out at Wedderburn. Didn't need much at all just a bit of straightening.



I took the opportunity to counter sink the holes at the back where the screws hold the blocks of wood firmly in place. I find that a largish tile drill bit on the drill is the best thing for making the countersunk shape. The same technique I used for countersinking the screw holes on the roof.





A bit of liquid nails and I screwed the blocks of wood in place. Unfortunately there was still a bit of a chunk missing under both of the blocks So they were filled with builders bog.





Sanding and bogging and finally it started to look ok.








Some undercoat and paint and it's done.

I have not been to visit site for a little while. On a later thing on Bessies travels, I could get no pictures. On this , also, I cannot get pictures. Have I missed something ?

All fixed now.

As I am not a fan of photo sharing sites like Photo Bucket I self host the photo's on my own private web server running under my study desk. I do this as I prefer to keep the rights to my photos in my hands as much as possible and not signing them over to the photo sharing sites for use at their discretion. Unfortunately if it dies or the Internet drops out then all the photos disappear for a little while. Can't wait till we can get the NBN in our area, as ADSL is problematic at best.

Fyi the checkers used in Bessie are vinyl self adhesive tiles from the big green shed, they are all still stuck down well with no problems.  Each tile consists of 4 squares, 2 black and 2 white.

Fixed the photo problem... I think...
