Hi, I am a new member to this site, and I was wondering if I could get some idea of what I should expect to pay for a Propert van preferable one which does not need to much to be done to it. Also how easy/difficult are they to find for sale? Thanks for any advice

Hi there Koala2 I'm sure a moderator will be along shortly - but we don't discuss the value of vans on the forum. We just enjoy them The price is a matter between buyer and seller only - they can settle on what they both agree is a suitable figure. But feel free to find out all you can while you are here so you will know a bargain when you see one. There is a lot of information about specific vans in the Down History Lane section of the site - check for the brand name and read away! Enjoy the site Seeshell

Hi. A few years ago I accidentally put a member onto what I thought might be a Propert (and it was) which sold for $800. It needed nothing done to it. I saw a Propert in the ACT about a year later, which needed a complete rebuild and the guy paid $6,000 and didn't begrudge one single dollar. Which is why it's so difficult to say what they (or any brand of van) might be worth. They are worth whatever the seller/buyer are able to agree on as the selling price.
As you troll the "For Sale/Wanted section, (use the search box which will help you) you will eventually get an idea of asking/sale prices.
Properts do pop up for sale every now and then, more often than not on ebay, unless perchance a member wants to sell theirs, when it might come up on this forum. Because they are so darn cute, they ARE becoming more and more difficult to find.
As you know what brand of van you want, you could also advertise here in the wanted section.
Good luck
Ray

The family van I found is an absolute basket case but I was prepared to pay $5000 for it, that's the figure I had in mind when negotiating with the seller, but he said $200, which was fair enough really. Being the scrooge I am, I said my thoughts were about $100, but he insisted on $200 So, the price with memories attached, $5000 price as most would see it........$200 It's as others say, what is it worth to you? It can run away with the money restoring. JBJ has documented costs of "Lucille", my 120 has gone over $11k, dollars for time spent ? forget it, you do it because you love it ST
