Well it goes like this. It's realistic that it will be 18 months before "SWELL" is completed and on the road. I am not happy with the upkeep costs of the VZ yoot. (New rear tyres every 18,ooo km for a start) And it would be nice to have something more period for the Sunny as a tow car for the interim. To the rescue comes EVILBAY. I bought this. 1968 VG Valiant Safari Station Wagon. Last registered 1993. Plenty of paddock dust. Thought i might make a nice kustom as an interim. She'll wear Swell's rego plates and be rather Rat outside but fully kustom interior with spatz and sunnyvisor. And have sold the YOOT. It had a lot of this. And a rats home as well. So seats, carpet door trims and headliner out. Swellwillys

Good idea Gavin ,getting an old drivable tow car now while the Willys gets built. Just dont get too carried away TIDYING UP the Valiant or you will have two big projects on the go !!!!. How about airbrushed riveted panels on the wagon to match the van. You wouldn't need to airbrush the rust stains .LOL Any updates on the Willys Cheers. John

Thanks Jondi, Too late - I got carried away. Photos to follow. Swells on hold at the moment till we get the safari on the road and registered which is about a month away. Hopefully we'll be able to make the maroochy event, but I'm a little hesitant to commit to us coming along till a little closer. Thanks for the advice -should have consulted you earlier ;D

Hi Gav and Jules,
Had a sneek peek last week. Love the project. Brad was saying he's partical to the Vals now as he lent us a mag to check out a Vera cross dressing as Vergil.(These are our cars names by the way) Hope to make it to Maroochy too if all goes well.

So after the rust was removed from the floor and sills the body deadener was applied. Sand, filled and primed the interior. Painted the interior doors cargo bay and dash. ( Now we have 2 metal flake green cars in the VV ,JBJ ) And installed the headlining. New rubber kit and new windscreen were installed yesterday so things are coming along great - have had a hold up with the upholstery material, which has gone missing somewhere between San Francisco and Brisbane. Thanks for the comments guys, Humpyboy - yep different it is ! Will be pleats on dash.doors and seats. We have purchased the same barkcloth ( different pattern and colors ) for SWELL - regards the upholstery - lets just say that it is extremely difficult to obtain, but you can still buy it. It's more prehistoric that vintage seeshell - great pickup ;D - yep tis indeed Barkcloth from the big surf island - trust a lady member to pick it up. Swellwillys.

The dash as it was. Is now. And a close up Bought these at the Toowoomba Swap meet last weekend. As well as two of these. Spent the best part of a day polishing them and attaching the cones . The hubcaps with the cones will be fitted to the front whilst the plain units will be fitted to the rear -behind the spats. Off to Kingaroy for the weekend to spend some time on the car. Swellwillys

The trip to Kingaroy was successful on the weekend with a large number of mods been able to be completed. We're happy with the hubcaps. We removed the wheels for Green metal flake painting and fitting of the new Rollydog white walls.( The ride height is yet to be completed) Venetians and cargo bay floor installed. Central locking and engine immobilizer. All new headlights, indicators and stop/tail lights. Sunvisor installed Painted instrument panel, with lime green gauge indicators and idiot proof switches. ;D Swellwillys
