GDay, We have an old Baravan which we are going to break up and dispose of. However, we thought we would post first and see if anyone was interested in any of the parts as some are in reasonable condition. Unfortunately it is not able to be moved in one piece. The tow-ball has been cut off, the axel removed and the only exit to the backyard now has a carport which is lower than the roof of the Caravan. The only way it could leave the backyard in one piece would be using a substantial crane. It seems a shame to demolish it but we don’t use it and would like to reclaim the space. We live in Goodwood just south of the Adelaide CBD. We will be getting a skip and breaking it up in about a month’s time so please let us know before then if you are interested in any of the parts. Anyway, here it is:

Seems such a waste for what to me looks like a very good van, I'm sure there would be someone out there that would want it.

It does seem a pity to break it up - looks to be in quite good condition.
If you do wreck it I would be interested in some inside door handles and catches. More than happy to cover postage costs and some for the parts.

And if Curtis doesn't want them all, I'd be interested in door handles / latches as well especially those with the push buttons. Ditto re postage and something for the parts.
Maybe someone local with "rescue" experience could go and have a look before its dismantled though - maybe there is another way out that hasn't been considered...
Cheers, Doug.

That`s a darn shame to see it possibly scrapped. Alternative: Can the carport roof be lifted off? Any old axle & rims fitted & rolled out onto a car trailer & then roof refitted? Just my two cents worth. cheers

it is indeed a shame to wreck it ......the ol' Baravan appears to be in reasonable condition. These little Baravans are quite rare, .......even here in WA where they were manufactured. They can scrub up really well, ......as done by forum member "retro1". They look the part behind an old Holden or Ford .....or whatever Mark

Thankyou for all your posts. We could have sold this Caravan twenty times over in the last couple of years if it was easily movable. We have given moving it a lot of thought, including temporarily disassembling the carport, passing it from one forklift to the another over the fence or putting it on it side on rollers. Unfortunately we haven’t found anyone keen enough to take it to this level. We understand it’s a bit of a shame but we just don’t need another guestroom/shed/cubbyhouse which is what it appears to have been used for in the past. We also posted this on Gumtree. We have had several offers to strip it completely which is preferable to posting different parts to different people. We will keep you in mind if there are any handles left at the end.
Thanks,
Sam

Hi, Glad to hear that this one's found a home; maybe there's hope for me! I'm in the next suburb to Goodwood - Millswood and have an original but somewhat sad plywood van. Its 13', 3 berth, late '50s I'd guess with original FJ taillight & wheels/hubcaps, all fittings e.g. built-in icechest, cast iron enamelled stove, light fittings, scalloped edged mirror, endless drawers & cupboards, windows with a wheel cut, engraved, gold-filled, diamond pattern & so on. It really needs recladding - new plywood. I did one panel and found it easy! Any interest, any offers? Tom

Unfortunately we were too late for this one, so I think the thread's dead. We'll keep looking, though.
