NORICH CARAVANSBuilt by Alwyn Norman & Noel Richardson 76 Bells Road, Glengowrie SA Information about a 1968 Norich Little Nipper 10 IV caravan posted by Freeway on 2 April 2010:Hi all! We picked up a new VV today, a 1968 Norich Little Nipper 10 IV ;D We got him from his original owners, very well looked after and much loved van. Got bunks at the front, kitchen in the middle and table that makes a bed at the back. We assume the 10 IV means 10 feet 4 berth, the lovely lady who owned him before said she and her husband went to 1968 caravan show and they liked the Norich vans so they bought one He's an S.A. van, bought somewhere on South road, but that's all that is known at the moment, nothing on DHL but hopefully some info will be found! Further photos of Freeway's Norich van posted on 8 April 2010:The twin sets of windows are for the bunks, they originally changed from a seat to beds but have had pieces of wood attached to make it permanently bunks. I'll probably put it back to being switchable. I'd say the lower set of windows are original... ADDENDUM - October 2021: Additional photo of Freeway’s Norich with his Austin Freeway tow vehicle:

Hi all,
Just joined the forum as I was browsing the net and googled Norich caravans. The caravans were built in partnership between Alwyn Norman and Noel Richardson (my father-in-law). The name "Norich" is an amalgum of their surnames. Alwyn was the financier-salesman and had a premises in Market Street, Adelaide. Noel did the building at his home, 76 Bells Road, Glengowrie, South Australia. Alwyn used to get the chasis from Tregonings (Treg Trailers) and take them to Noel who built the frames, did the cladding and built the cupboards, beds etc. Alwyn would then pick the vans up and take them to be painted, then to his works for the final fit, upholstery etc. Alwyn's sister may have done the upholstry. Noel was a cabinet maker and worked for Clipper Caravans until it was burnt down. I have some photo's which I shall try to find and post.
The above information is based on the recolection of Noel Richardson, who will be 89 next Sunday, 1 April 2012

Hi Dave, I have not been able to find out when the fire burnt out Clippers, but have checked the old newspappers on Trove. According to my father-in-law they did operate on a reduced scale after the fire but I don't know for how long.
Refards, Roger

Norich advert from the 1968 Winser Caravan Manual:(Source: Keith Winser, Caravan Manual & Tourist Park Guide, 1968, page 23) The caravan shown in the advert has a rounded bulkhead over the front window, as opposed to the 'knife edge' styling on the van in the post commencing this thread. It also lacks the double row of awning windows on the front, but has a window between the front and the door, and therefore appears to be a bit longer - maybe 12 foot? On the same page of the book is a report on 'South Australia's First Van Show', which includes the following: "During the Show, independent judges awarded the prize for the best display to Mr Alwyn Norman, of Norich Caravans, but it was a very difficult decision to make as the standard was so high."So belated congratulations to Mr Norman and Norich Caravans from all of us on the forum - we're only 51 years late! (The report would have been on the 1967 Show.) Don Ricardo

That's odd. The interior shots are all definitely our old Norich but the exterior shots aren't. We removed the green curtains and put in the plastic blinds at the rear but the green curtain for the bunks as can be seen in my photos is still there. Also has the home made shelf at the end of the bunk which was there when we bought ours and the puratap style mains tap I installed. Dodgy ad maybe?

Hi I’m back again , that’s my van at where I used to store it , I don’t think I advertised it for long before I changed my mind ! It’s not my interior at all . I’ve got it out of storage and have been cleaning the outside for days ! It has always been outside its whole life . I replaced the screws a few years ago and used silicone in the holes . I doesn’t leak s drop and it didn’t before either . I will be posting pics as I restore it , when I learn to navigate around this site .
