Lake Navarino is Waroona Dam, located a few kms east of Waroona. Not far from my neck of the woods, will try to get up for a looksee & to say hello. Very busy down here with lambing at the moment.

whata great run this was !! ....... for an "impromptu" run organised only by a forum post from pottsy (lilypad) via Will & Lyn, the turn up was excellent with no less than 13 car & caravans turning up !! I've never met a happier bunch of people .......the laughter & banter around the campfire both nights was full on .....what are you guys smokin' anyway ;D ;D ;D In fact, I had such a good time, ......forgot to take any pics .....only got the camera flashing on the way home .......... For the trip home, I totally avoided the main highways and took the back route thru to Beverley ......an absolutely beautiful drive ......I've never seen the backblocks of the wheatbelt looking so good ...........wildflowers everywhere and lush green fields I turned right out of the Lake Navarino road to head to Dwellingup via Nanga Brook road, then Nanga road ....'bout 36 kms. The drive is a sensational piece of road climbing through the hills with tall trees, gullys and a twisting winding road with a couple of hairpin bends ....ideal for a Targa motorsport event ;D ;D .......anyway I drove straight into Waroona's " Tour De France" .........a major cycling event ........why the organisers didn't close the road for the event I'll never know ....there were thousands of bikes racing ........going one way on Nanga Brook rd, then both ways on Nanga rd ........but to drag the car & caravan right thru the guts of that event was bloody dangerous to say the least The racers going the same way way as me rode three abreast, and without mirrors didn't know I was there, so had to drive on the wrong side of the road most of the way with the headlights on and with the horn on the horny heavy duty blasting the whole way ........most of this was climbing in 2nd gear around corners & blind crests . Then it got worse .........on Nanga road they were coming the other way as well .......and cycling fast down the hills ....so I had a stream of them flying down the right side, whilst overtaking them 3 abreast on the left ....kinda making a trail thru all these maniac cyclists Once I got to Dwellingup, and out of the cycling event ....it was back to happy vintage caravanning all the way back to Beverley real estate values on Wandering Pingelly Road are unfortunately collapsing ;D the cactus plant says it all !!! on the way thru Pingelly on Friday, I called into have a look at progress on Stuart's (forum member) vintage van project, he was in the process of making a new axle ......took this pic on the way back: Mark

Hi all, Thanks Mark T for his photos. I did take quite a few photos of the actual event, but an apparent problem with downloading photos from my camera has meant that they are (for whatever reason ),visible on Photobucket but not visible on the forum when I upload them. I'll keep working on it, but apologise to all those who were waiting with baited breath for photos to appear. Maybe if anyone else has photos, they can share them with us. Daggsey
