Hi All,
We have been looking at vintage vans for some time and have finally decided that the style that we are after, to tow behind our 1964 Rambler Classic wagon is the Franklin Bumblebee from the 60s. Any leads and suggestions regarding values would be appreciated. Any leads on 64 Rambler Classic/Ambassador sedan or wagon parts would also be appreciate
Regards, Greg and Chris Canberra

G'day Greg & Chris, Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of V V's. Good to hear that you've caught the bug...or perhaps I should say you're making a beeline for a van to go with your Rambler! I'm not sure what you mean by a 'Franklin Bumblebee Style Van'. I'm wondering if you are thinking of one of the two types of fibreglass vans that were produced by Franklin in the 60's? Is it one of the vans that were first produced by Franklin but were then produced by Kennedy (and sold under different names) that you can see here? Or is it one of the later fibreglass Franklins that were made in small numbers as shown here (scroll right down to the end of the thread for a photo)? Or are you thinking of something else again? If so, have a look at the Franklin thread in the Down History Lane section and tell us if you can see what you're looking for there. Once we've identified the type of van you're referring to perhaps someone will be able to point you in the direction of the caravan you're looking for. Looking forward to hearing more, Don Ricardo

Hi Don,
Thanks for the welcome. The van that we are after looks like the Caravelle posted on Members Photo Album by rexbuick on Mar 3 2006. There is one on ebay at the moment, which is where the term 'Bumblebee' came from. Looks to be a good van but at this stage we have no idea about values so we don't want to rush into any purchases or race all over the county until we get a better feel for the market.
Regards, Greg and Chris

Hi Greg and Chris, the van you are looking for is a Franklin Regent. They came in 10.6,12.6,14.6,and 18.6,and there are still a few getting around! I reckon they are the best towing Franklins of all time! But thats just my biased opinion!! Cheers hughdeani

I know the guy we got our Clipper from had a Regent, small, maybe 12 foot. It's in S.A. where abouts are you? I think it would need some work though. Are there any pics of your Rambler up here yet? Liz and I really like wagons!!!!!!!!!! Andrew
