Hi all , I'm in Adelaide and looking for a pair of cheap HR or Torana rims, I was going to fit ford hubs so I could fit Centura rims to the van but have since changed my mind as I am running out of time for one reason,so if anyone has a couple spare cheap sing out.

HR rims are around but getting scarce and many are very rusty around the inside. They are still produced new and available through some tyre shops. Distributor up here in QLD is Top Tyres so you could chase them up and find out who has them down there. I think they also have new 14 inch HK rims as well. Rollydog

Hi C/Q Rollydog is correct in saying you can buy new 14 inch rims in the early Holden pattern. R.O.H Make them... Just be aware that the rims do not have the lobes on them to hold hubcaps on. They are primarily marketed for trailers etc. Also may have to look at rear offset if you are running electric brakes or larger than normal brake drums on your van. Sorry about muddying the waters for you Reddo

I really nead them to be 13" because there is not enough room to fit 14'' tyres, also I had a full disc brake set up to fit Chrysler pattern rims to match bit the van weighs that little so I forgot that idea (then discovered they would not fit under anyway) Do they make new 13'' as well.

Hey Centura-quest, do they need to be HR rims (to fit disc brakes) or can they be any early rims, if earlier ones (same stud pattern) are OK I have quite a few you can have, just have to work out a way to get them to you Matt

I'd like to have HR because they have the safety lip so to speek which gives it that sunken ridge for a full cap to grip with, I have some Sunbird full cover caps (chrome) and I lost 2 when I towed it home because it has got the FC- EH style rim. But thanks very much for the offer, I still might take you up on it yet, see how I go. Cheers Wayne

The new wheels are in either 13 or 14 inch. I'll have to check on the supplier as it is either Top tyres or total Tyres up here. Here is another link that may help. It is in Victoria. www.hrpartsandstuff.net/Rollydog

Hi centuraquest,
Shows you can learn something new everyday........I always assumed that FE - HR rims were the same and Torana rims were sought after because they were wider.
The new rims (13") that you can buy as described earlier by Reddo are actually marketed as "HR" rims. I bought new rims for "Madonna" and had to file grooves in the lobes to keep the hubcaps on.

Hi Some time ago Kaybee had a very good article on the forum re Holden wheels ......perhaps Col could run that article again as we have a lot of new people on the forum......also a lot of members are running Holden wheels on their caravan.... as this comes up a lot we could put it in the Tec section and make it a sticky thread SO "wadda ya" reckon Col f/f ;D ;D ;D ;D

There is a bloke here in Newcastle doing the rounds at the swapmeets. He has a couple of HR rims with good tyres on them. from memory he wants $50 EACH for them. He is the same bloke that was elling the sunliner.. then wasnt... then was....now isnt The quickest way to pick a standard HR disc brake rim is to check the stiffening ribs near the centre of the rim. One of the ribs has a whole drilled in it ( Only about 1/8"from memory) Also HR rims are welded centres whereas EH and earlier are riveted rims. Reddo

Hi Centura, I can lay my hands on a couple of either Torana or HR 13" rims if you are still looking (only 2 torana, but more than 2 HR's). If the shed run is still a goer in a couple weeks, I can throw them in the boot. My mate also has a couple of brand new (but old) 4 ply tyres to suit, if you are interested. Can PM you with prices if you are interested. Steve

HR rims are good, they need to bethe HR to have that resessed bit for the safety rim which also the full cover sunbird caps can slide into to stop them flying off. Excellent thanks Steve Urkle.
