Make/Model = RANGER. ;D Manufacturer = unknown. Vintage = 1950/60's?. Hi everyone, I'm starting a 'RANGER' thread as now that I have seen 'RANGER' clearly listed on the old Rego label I know it's a 'RANGER' but, there is still no available information on the 'RANGER' name. If anyone comes across anything in a magazine, book, word of mouth etc , etc, please post it here so the 'RANGER's' heritage can be discovered.. Thanks all, littleblackbird (:>)=

An elderly gentleman who drives people around Melb city in his 1920/30's? Vintage car tells me that he has a Vintage Van from the 40's in his yard and that it is called a 'Ranger'. he tells me the nameplate is metal and the van is a Bondwood. I have to get further details from him, he's not connected to the Internet etc so I'll have to find him again one evening. Well, I have not found him again. He was very elderly?

After some wire brushing it appears I may have a chassis number after all. It's only 2 digits though? P3. The other marks are where a weld has been cut off as they match perfectly to similar lines on the other side of the draw bar and they are a different colour metal to the P3. Does anyone know what the P3 may mean? I can't upload a picture as I keep getting an error that says the Forum has reached it's upload limit?

Hi Littleblackbird, Great to see you posting again, and to hear that you still have your Ranger van. Unfortunately the 'Add Attachment' button isn't operating at the moment (hence the message you received), so you need to post photos via Photobucket or one of the other online photo storage websites. There are instructions on how to do that in the 'Forum Guideline & Helpful Hints' section of the forum. Alternatively, click on my forum name in blue in the left hand panel of this post and that will open up a new window which shows you my email address. If you wish, you can then email your photos to me and I'll post them for you if that seems easier. Don Ricardo

Hi all, Early in 2010, Littleblackbird began this thread about her 10 ft Ranger caravan, and posted a couple of photos (see above). Although the caravan is quite distinctive particularly looking at the front profile from the side, no further information has emerged about the van, or who might have produced Ranger caravans. Following are some further photos of the van collected from various posts that may assist in finding out more about its origins: A photo of the serial number on the A-frame which began with 'P' is shown above, Unfortunately the inside had deteriorated quite badly, but there is enough there to give an indication of layout, etc: Icebox: There was the remains of 'Ranger' decals on the front and rear of the van: Forum member Minicamper used his skills to match the font and show what the full decal would have looked like, commenting "So here you go shadowed and unshadowed. The style of the font matches all the key points of the design of what is left of the old sticker": There was some discussion about the origins of the van here Can anyone tell us more about this little van who produced Ranger caravans? Don Ricardo

Hi Don Ricardo, That sticker is without doubt a Viscount Ranger sticker! Probably put on by a previous owner who neede to find a name for registration! Cheers hughdeani.

Hi Hughdeani, Thanks for that bit of info - as always you come up with the goods! It's excellent to have that piece of the jigsaw. I'm assuming from your comment that while the sticker is from a Viscount Ranger, that's not what the van is? Any idea what it is? The shape of the front where it curves in to meet the bulkhead, the relatively square back, and low set rear window remind me of something, but I haven't been able to figure out what... I'll leave the heading of the thread as it is until we figure out the origins of the van. At least we know where it is for reference purposes. Don Ricardo
