Hi Mark,
thanks for this - this is fantastic historic piece you have given us here. I really enjoyed reading it,
I was born in Dandenong just a few miles from Dons home in Oakleigh and remember as a kid travelling in the 60s past Orbost and the notorious Berwick hill. The Berwick hill has not changed that much over the years but the cars braking systems have.
cheers Jerri

thanks for your comments Jerri ......I'm glad you enjoyed the brochure ..........
It's the only old caravan brochure I own, so I'm hoping some other members with brochures will also post them on the forum eventually ..........

Hey Mark This is one of the best brochures I think we will ever see. Thank you for allowing us to view it. I found a few ads on "The Don" for people to look at. The first 2 pictures are from 1950's Motor Manual's ![]() ![]() ![]() This is from the 1948 caravanning and camping guide Keep up the fantastic work with the web-site it is a true credit to you and all the vintage vanners are truly greatful. In the above article it mentions insulated walls and ceilings as a feature of Dons. What was the insulating material used? Or is it referring to the fact that it a cavity ply construction? Is there a Don owner out there who can tell me? But please don't cut a hole in your wall to have a look. thanks earlee. ;D

HELP!!! Where the blazes did this posting come from--it's been here since the 4th September 2004 and this is the first time I have seen it. I can't keep up with the postings on this flaming site--I got another life to lead you know--I got a wife--and a dog--and grass to cut. Great brochure Mark, thanks for posting it. Cobber.

Matt, you're right, we did miss a couple of pages of the brochure, and the floor plan for the baby Don is missing ....its over a year ago now when this brochure was posted, but I remember it being very slow & tiresome scanning & posting so many pages.
I've just bought a baby 10.5' Don, have a look at my post today under "general". The kitchen is up the front, the table folds out from the RH side wall and the double bed - come - lounge is at the rear of the van .....a neat and very functional layout for its time .....the van I bought from Ballarat is believed to be prewar.
I'll see if I can get Ditzy to post the missing pages of the brochure.
Earlee .....the roof is insulated with Caneite.
Cheers
Mark
