Big Hello to all the Vintage Vanners who lyn and I havent met as yet
I thought it would be good to start a thread where a few good old memories can be discussed
or memorable things that have happened on runs and weekends away with the group
I would Emplore any Member or future Members to make an extra special effort to attend either a national or a Spring tour
even though the weekends are great fun it doesnt give you any time to get to know the other members and interract
so get the Calendar out now and mark down Mt Gambier as a long term Goal or a future spring tour
Even though for a few it will be a long haul I promise you the enjoyment fun and Comraderie is just fantastic
Lots of great fun things have happened to lyn and I
what about this one
Anyone that knows my beautifull wife Lyn apart from being a nice person and the best wife any man could ask for
SHE LOVES "SHOPPING"
when rolling through sydney on Reddos Spring tour I was following Wayne and Sharon in there light blue and white topless two door Fairlane (tank)
and on one of sydneys busiest metropolitan roads the Tank decides to cough splutter and stop and roll to a halt at a taxi stand
with whingeing taxi drivers cars beeping people gawking at the two cars and vans so guess what it turns out Sharon is a shopaholic too
how unlucky can Wayne and I be he rolled to a stop right out the front of a department store
Lyn says come on Sharon we will save will and Wayne some money by buying some bargains "THEY ACTUALLY WENT SHOPPING"
so of they went while we try changing some points and various other methods to get the tank moving again
one bloke says youve got to move from here right now or you will get booked no need To say what I told him to do
meanwhile there are cars honking on lookers gathering around and our wives spending money trying to save us money
ever try to change points with that kind of pressure with a non
magnetic screwdriver half of Sydneys arab population beeping horns (taxi Drivers) gesturing Politely
got a few gestures back politely
finally an RAC repairman appeared through the crowd and got wayne started which got us out of the taxi rank
the old 302 in Black betty decided it wanted to boil 20 minutes later as we were passing through Ryde station due to the heat and stop start traffic with the caravan on
and Wayne broke down five minutes later
any way we both eventually got to coledale wayne had to go home and get his other Car
We missed the TV filming of the whole group of Cars and Vans rolling into Coledale but guess what
LYN saved me some money
