Hi All,
Looking ahead a little. Jus noticed several of us are starting to get off our butts & get a bit organised. So I rang Reddo & we come to an unanimous decision that some one else can probably organise a trip down. What we both have in mind at this stage is to leave Newcastle on the Sunday morning before Easter, stay at Grenfell (maybe ) like last trip to Morgan,on Sunday night. Then travel maybe to Hay on Monday night, Mildura area or even a bit further on Tuesday night, then hit Mt Gambier on wednesday morning Stay till Sunday or Monday, then cruize back along the Great Ocean Road, maybe stopping halfway back to Melbourne overnight. I'm then heading to Melbourne for a few days to visit daughter & family. Then I'll come up the highway to Newcastle, stay a day or two, then home. Probably about 3 weeks for us, & another 5000Km plus. Hopefully towing the Sunliner behind my rod or Dodge.
Geoff & Judy, you mentioned doing the trip in the reverse order. It wont work for me, as the lead up to Easter is too hectic normally for me to take enough time to catch up with family, & we'd need to stay in Melbourne on the way down if we went the reverse way.
We've all got time to plan this one, so any east coasters planning on going think about it. It was a good run to Morgan, with only 4 of us travelling together, so the more the merrier.

Hi v v We are heading off Sunday morning from Wollongong. :DWe are travelling via Albury, Bendigo and on to Mt Gambier. (1250 klm) This is a more direct route than the one you have suggested above. It is a lot longer trip going via Mildura and Hay. We hope to have 2 big days travelling and arriving Monday night In the Mount. Otherwise we will be there Tuesday. Ticko's

Da fossil is having a bit of trouble working out what's going on here Mark proposed the VINTAGE CARAVAN NATIONALS are on 16th March until the 19th March. The FE/FC nationals and Easter are 21st to 24th March (I'm not going to either of them ) If JBJ & Reddo & Humpty2 leave the Sunday before Easter, i.e 16th, you'll get to MT. Gambier just as the V C Nats. finish Me....I think I might head off from home around Thur. 13th via Albury / Bendigo / Mt Gambier. and return along the coast road, aiming to be home on the 25th (my birthday Reddo). I know, I'll be traveling on my pat malone (with the missus) and I'd rather not, but I'll see you all when you get to the Mt. Cobber.

Hi There tickos. Sounds like a plan. Oiy JBJ and Humps how does a saturday night at Coledale sound to you pair?? Get up sunday and follow the Tickos. still break the trip up so we aint busting a valve to get there..... 1275k.... average 400k a day from " the Gong " and take 3 days instead of Tickos 2 dayer . roll up at MT. G tuesday arvo. heres the numbers saturday - Newcastle to coledale = 224k sunday- woolongong to holbrook = 434k Monday - holbrook to bendigo = 375k tuesday - Bendigo to Mt gambier= 387 total = 1410.. Oops i missed the bit between Coledale and woolongong add about another 40ks. Just like the convict escaping in leg irons.....short hops are cool with me. and who knows it might even be sunny at coledale for a change Col has pm'd me with the idea of heading straight down the hume hwy ( should read here "The Ho-hum hwy"towards melbourne use the link road and head across Colac and the great ocean road dodging the hay plains etc. I plan on coming home along the G.O.R so his route will get a run on the way home. Hi All, We have booked into the Blue Lake Van Park from Sunday 16th to Thursday 20th, didn't go for an ensuite site Lynelle, will save that "LUXURY" for another time.
We will be leaving Sydney the 12th March & getting back 25th March, one way via the Great Ocean Road and one way inland.
Haven't worked out which way we will do it yet, but if anyone wants to tag along we would love the company and are flexible with our plans.

Hi JBJ like i said on another thread. i dont see the nats as..... here is the start line ( 16th) and here is the finish line ( 19th). work dictates that i wont finish up until friday arvo so i aint gunna bust my buns to be there on sunday morning/arvo. I will probably stick with getting there about tuesday arvo. once i get there i will stay on for part of easter. no one is gunna heard me outta the park on Thursday arvo anyway. i am quite happy to stay off the highways until at least easter sunday. will head back along the great ocean road and head bush before the monday arvo rat race back to melbourne begins.
might still tag along with the Tickos.

gooday cobber (ol' mate) it's early days and i'm sure that by march '08 a pile of plans will have been conceived and some hatched, and most of them will be altered, but at this early point in time, you and the 'missus' are running on about the same plan as us, so if you don't mind a huge lump of tin behind you (we've got brand new electric brakes ) then maybe the dinosaur can team up with the fossil for the trip to the mount. geoff 'n jude

Geoff n Jude, I just noticed your post and thought the same thing, We could leave the 12th, if we go down via TGOR we can do it leisurely .. ..pre Easter rush. I'm inclined to take the fossil's fossil so I won't be setting any speed records...might be too slow for your rig Anyway.we can talk about it all at Munmorah ....Coledale ....Motorfest 2008.... Main thing is to get the caravan park booked, and we have. Cobber.

Hi Cobber,
geoff is at work at the moment, but a leisurely pace suits us, our old girl weighs quite a bit and doesn't allow for great speeds (especially up hills) ;D ;D.
Plenty of time to sort it all out, might be wise to look at places to stay on the way back as that is the Easter Break.
We can both see what we come up with & compare notes, watcha reckon
