CAMPAR CARAVANSManufactured by V A Campbell & Co 52 Frasers Road, Ashgrove, Qld
Hi All. Andrew ( Smut 57) towed his Campa bondy to Meandarra on Saturday of our Retirees cruise. I'll leave the details about the van & the company to him to post. It appears early 50's . & is in pretty fair condition. Never seen one before. Address appears to be 52 Frasers Road, Ashgrove, a Brisbane suburb. JBJ

Photos of a Campar caravan recently sighted by Don257 at San Remo, Vic: Note that, now that we can see the full manufacturer's plate, the brand name is 'Campar', not 'Campa' as we'd previously thought. I have amended the thread title accordingly. I wondered if this was Smut57'sCampar van restored and repainted (see above), but this van has a porthole window that Smut57's van did not, and the door is hinged on the opposite side (both of which could be modifications). Thanks to the Don257's for providing the photos. Don Ricardo

Additional note from Don257 regarding the Campar caravan seen at San Remo:
The owner told Don257 that they had added the porthole window, and that the van came from Queensland, so there's a reasonable chance that the van may have been Smut57's.

Hi Don,
I reckon that is the same van. Look at the name badge & you can see a screw hole in the "B", which matches the screw hole in my pix of Andrew's van.
I think too much coincidence to be another van.

The draw bar is identical as is the paint on it also.

Hi Leeron,
That's perhaps not unexpected, depending on how original the two vans were (assuming they were two different vans for the purpose of the argument). However, the hole through the manufacturer's plate identified by JBJ is definitely the clincher, I think.
