Well folks, the bi-annual Brookton Old Time Motor show has passed for 2006, and what a top show it was, the best ever, with more than 5000 visitors through the gate.
The displays were many & varied, there were cars, trucks, military vehicles, motor bikes, push bikes, stationary engines, tractors, farm machinery, caravans and the list goes on, truly a magnificent display of motoring history …….. everybody was raving about what a great show it was.
Thanks to the local vintage vanners for their support, NOT !!! …… only Gentlemen Jim, Will & Lyn & myself & Ditz were present……their loss though, they missed a great show .
The 39 Chev with the 1948 masonite caravan looked a great match together (blowing my own trumpet here) and was a real popular display attracting many people in & out of the caravan all day…… I put countless hours & bucks into the project which all came together at the show.
The masonite caravan is narrow and high, and really suites the high sitting, big old Chevvy.
The Chev did a great job towing the old van, though slow on the road uphills …..this was REAL vintage caravanning, replicating what it would have been like caravanning back in the 1940’s, though we had the benefit of much better roads & frequent overtaking lanes.
Unfortunately the Chev developed an electrical misfire 15kms out of Brookton, and couldn’t tow the caravan home. Luckily Ian (Bro) had taken my trusty HD Holden, so the HD towed the van home …..all good, except that the Holden dropped half of its exhaust system half way home !!!
The trusty HD Holden
Little bro was misbehaving, so the army had to be called in ;D ;D
