G’Day All You Stralians . Bloody Bewdy Mate.
Yup .... You guessed it Will.... time for an "Outburst"
Here is some pix I snapped at Motorfest . Sorry bout the delay . I have just done 2,400ks in the last few days . Went on a vintage bike buying spree when I got home from Motorfest. 3 days down around Victoria then back up through the snowy mountains to Bega then home up the coast picking up another three bikes before I got home.
Finally found time to sit down and put a few shots on photostuffup. They look pretty much the same as cobs photos but words cant explain the amount of people and questions we got asked on the day……mind numbing really. FJ mucked up on the way home . got hot a few times but we backed of to 90KPH and she sailed home sweet.
Anyway enough dribble here's some photos. …. Or is that jpgs…. Or is that …. Digital images…. Or… or…
Here is me and Joel 6.00am on the southern side of The coathanger. Aint too often ya get a chance to pull up on the busyiest bridge in australia for a photo shoot.
We where out of bed and on the road by 4.00am. talk about keen to promote www. Vint……..
By day light we had set up and was enjoying the early morning peace and solitude. The big white display board had photos of Humptys sunliner, Retros Diner 1, Dons Propert ( I forgot he was coming) , A nice shiney carapark , The Shultzys teradrop and a shot from last years Motorfest with the three vans that attended.
The idea was to let the crowd know just how rich or touring heritage is with all these old styles of vans.
I put together an A4 sheet with Marks welcoming speil from the www. Site. photocopied about 200 of 'em. Couldnt find any when i got home..... Says it all dont it.....
;D.
The other pix where of the first W.A RUN at Harvey with all the vans and tow cars lined up ( Where it all began aye fellas)
, The first North coast get together with JBJ, earlee and the crew enjoying a beer and some of JBJ evil concoctions, and 2 photos from the inaugral Coledale last October….. PROMOTION OF THE SITE AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT WE ARE A TRUELY NATIONAL BUNCH OF RESTORERS AND VINT VAN ENTHUSIASTS NOT JUST A BUNCH OF ECCENTRIC LOONEYS WAS THE ORDER OF THE DAY
The crowd rolled in and the madness began. "Hey mate whats that smell in the van"
.... Old age mate, just old age… a bit of damp mattress stuffing, a well used ice chest and that irresistable smell of 50 year old ply!!!
What you actual fit 4 people in there comfortably
?. Bloody Oath Mate!!!!…. and we occassionallly have friends over to stay the night in the spare room!!!
The madness didn’t stop all day. Just when you thought you could wander off to catch up with the rest of the crew. Someone would collar ya and chew ya ear about the vans. No one can say we didn’t have a great time and I am positive we left a lasting impression on even the most conservative of the crowd. Dunno if
www.vintagevans.com has a site hit counter but I reckon ya need to tip a bucket of water over it this week mark…. It’ll be runnin’ red hot. I had a battery driven "Sally the singing sunflower " in the doorway. Motion activated she didnt stop singin' all day..... You are my sunshine,,my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are grey" Didnt see one person walk away without a smile on their face...... Hey isnt that what we are about.... having a bloody good time and enjoying /promoting our hobby.
??
Everyone walked away with a smile on their face and talking about “ I remember the time mum and dad took us to such and such and we stayed in the old van on the waterfront…… “
I went home an caught a few Zeds before heading off to Victoria on Friday. Spotted plenty of old vans in variuos stages of decay. Went to Wangaratta and bought a 1929 BSA, then up through the snowys and down to Bega . Stayed at a Little camping /caravan park at Dalmeny near Narooma.
Heres a shot of there billbboard out the front.
Had happy 6 hours with the natives before I got to bed Saturday night about midnight. Picked up 2 more old bikes on the way through Nowra and Woolongong . around 2000ks in 3 days. Just a tune up run for Morgan I reckon.
Definitely taking the A/C+T.D+C.D+4WD to Morgan Jim.. Averaging near 600K on $90 diesel towing a trailer with three cast iron boat moorings made in england on the back.
Stop typing and shut up Reddo.
Vintage vans..... ya gotta luv 'em eh
