G'day geoff and Jude, That is all good information to have under our belts. It means that if we go to the weigh bridge with the 'van empty and they don't ask you to disconnect 'van from car what you are getting is not the GTM... or the ATM... or the TARE weight. I don't know if that is what generally happens but it is what happened when I had Ol' 36 weighed. NSW Rego refers to GVM, that I take it is the same as ATM As most vintage 'vans don't have a trailer plate stamped with either ATM or TARE stamped on them it is probably wise to make sure the 'van is weighed properly.... i.e. disconnected from the car. When did trailer plates come into vogue Cobber.

Cobber..
If you go to a weighbridge to weigh your van and they dont ask you to disconnect your van and drive the car off the weighbridge... well.. they just arent doing their job.
I would also defy anyone who owns a caravan... be it vintage or otherwise to guess within 50kg what their "Person Load " is.
As we all know , we of the vintage caravan faith are "Collectors and gatherers" adding little bits and pieces as we travel around the countryside. We do not have a set of scales to tally up all the .. junk....... ooooops .. collectables/ necessitys that we tend to ferry into our vans over the years and you might be surprised to see just how far over the GTM you just may be.
