G'day Dave, Great to hear that you had a good time on the SA run this weekend, and great to see the pics. I noted that there were some vans from the Chrysler Restorers' Club of SA display at the recent Adelaide caravan show on the run, as well as some old friends from the 2008 Mount Gambier National V V Rally. (Hi to Lazza, Urkel and Raym. ) I was wondering whether you got any info about the various vans on the run? In particular the cream and green van behind the 30's green Chrysler (pic #3) and the light green with green flash van with the matching Chrylser Royal (pic #6). Don Ricardo

Thanks Dave for organising a great weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed it. To prove we are a sociable mob, here we are during happy hour. Oops...how did my van get in the background?? Cheers Steve

the green car is a 35 dodge D.U. body by T.J.Richards of Adelaide. Owner David May was told by Lazza (who has been in the van building industry a looong time) that he recognised it immediately as a Murrumba Star. I have no clue if it is. What a great day and night. Thanks old farts. pity about the bear with the sore head on our arrival. Cheers Beetles

Hi to all of those that attended the S.A event . Good to see you guys getting your act together down there. A what a great line up of vans and cars . Great to see so many of these vans and cars that we dont normally see too much of here on the forum. Good to see the age old tradition of happy hour being upheld too.... although we all know that "Any hour is happy hour " when you are away with great friends with your van and car. Sounds like the brass monkey run is gunna be a good event too... We in NSW will be experiencing the same .. cooooooooooooool.... conditions about the same time of year at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. Good Luck and thanks for the great photos. Reddo

Dave Don't worry about not being able to name my van, as no-one else could, until this weekend, when someone confirmed the manufacturer for me. Hopefully he will provide the name of the bloke that ran the place also. So now I am happy (not that I laid awake at night wondering!!) Steve

Hi Dave,
what you guys have discovered is what keeps this site & forum growing. Everyone that attends ( well almost everyone) enjoys it, & that is what keeps people coming back time after time. It doesn't great matter what state the event is in, it just keeps on going strong. & the regular "Happy hours" are a big part of the fun, whether it be while travelling in a group, or at a destination.
We noticed our last event at Maroochydore was approaching a size of being too big for the Happy Hour session & tended to become a "saturday night" group session, rather than a session every night that seems to occur with smaller numbers or when travelling.
Nothing wrong with either. Its about as casual & friendly as I've come across in my life. Hell I've even made friends with some of the Forum members I've offended previously.
I find as I travel around I still run into some hotrodders I've known since I was a kid, but the majority of friendly people Ihave met thru this website.
Its all fun
JBJ

Congratulations Dave on a well organised event, sounds like a great time was had by all exept just one lady, what a bummer!!!
Question: How come some had lush green grass to set up on while others were planted in the dirt?
Adam.

Hi Adam, Those of us who booked early were all together in the same grassed area, that was fairly small. Those that booked late could not fit in with us, and were a bit scattered around the park. The bear with the sore head, when we arrived, was not one of the Vintage Vanners. Thats a whole other story, which we won't get into. We VVers all had a great time!! Cheers Steve

It was a great day up at Murray Bridge It was great to catch up with Dave and Pat (Loveshack) from WA on there Aust tour. I did not take the Castle Caravan and letter box up there due to some health issues and previous things being booked.Evidence is in the picture of Loveshack's caravan Olympic shot. Graham and Raelene have just moved and couldn't make it. Meet up with the friendly bunch of old and new friends. Well done and I'm sure it won't be the last Regards retro1

I was there pretty much the whole time and didn't hear anything about the bear with the sore head incident, shows how much it impacted the weekend. Did no one get a photo of my impresive rig? c'mon that 1999 model stockman tent must have impressed a few of you..... no? oh well next time I will have a van there for sure! I would post a pic of my set up but I am having a few issues with my superfast internet that is slower than dialup, apparently this is normal as I was told last night by some technical support genious . So I can only use the computer at work and I can't plug my sd card into it. It was really good to finally meet some people who I reguarly talk to on these great forums! the wife and I had a great time, I only wish it could have gone longer as there were a few people I didn't get alot of time with, next time! Can't wait for the next run and to finally retire my tent. Bring on the Brass monkey run!

A big thank you to all those who made the trip to Murray Bridge for the SA get together yesterday ;D Even though Saturday afternoon was a bit warm and sticky the evening was pretty cool, enough to mingle around and for every one to meet every one else I don't think i missed any ones van,so with out further preamble, here are the pics. Again thank you to every one who made it all happen. ;D ;D I believe there may be a "Brass Monkey" two day event up at Mt Compass in July August, more news as that gets a little closer and things are put into gear. Good to catch up with old friends and meet friends of the future. Dave "OlFarts" They are nice photo's , I notice the Prefect, would that be capable of towing the caravan next to it? Engine size and brakes?
