Cowes is a great place for a run as it's beautiful down there, but how about a few runs on the other side of the bay down through Geelong. Seems like all the runs are down east of Melbourne. Bill

Either east or west of Melb is fine, however can I put a good word in for Port Fairy. A beautiful unspoilt place with a great Top 4 park with very friendly owners.

Port Fairy? ? I always thought most people who drink Po------ I had better stop right there. Port Fairy sounds good. Been to Cowes lots, never stayed at Fairyland. Oh there I go again! By the way, Where is Port Fairy? As Con the fruiterer said, doesn't matter, P F is a vote for me. cheers, Leigh.

Why do we have to choose why cant we do both places while the weather is good Impala ;D

Good point Impala,
we could do both places regardless of possible weather and if possible I would attend both.
My first step would be a date, I thought the Labour Day long weekend (March 7, 8 & 9 I think) may be suitable. Who is going to put their hand up first and make a firm committment?
I only suggested if I had to make a choice, then I personally would rather go to somewhere new rather than somewhere I have been lots. (This is why I have a van and not a holiday house.)
cheers, Leigh.

The Labour Day long weekend, is also the date of the Port Fairy Folk Festival and from personal experience, it is totally booked out 12 months in advance.
If the venue is to be Port Fairy, then it has to be a different date.

If anyone is interested, I have a list of about ten places in different directions some with ameneties, and some without, within about a 200km radius of Melb. Just a suggestion. ::)Impala

G'day everyone,
I'd love to be part of a V V weekend somewhere, but whether I can attend depends on the actual dates and my work commitments. I probably won't know until mid-February next year how the land lies. Put me down as a definite possible maybe... ;D ;D ;D

Ok, so as not to confuse anyone here are some suggestions, although FF's Queenscliff idea sounds good too . Also, depends if everyone wants to just kick back and do nothing in particular, and stay somewhere off the beaten track, or if you want somewhere with lots of people and places around 1. Paradise Beach or Seacombe, 2. Paynesville, 3. Warburton, 4. Marysville, 5. Ocean Grove [or somewhere around there], 6. Blairgowrie [which we have been told is a very nice spot by previous VV visitors] 7. Nagambie, 8. Castlemaine or surrounding areas. Also suggested was the Yarra Valley, that is sort of in the bush. ;D Any other suggestions, I can have a look in my 200Km book, and let you know what is written about it. Impala

Ok f/f,
I accept your offer to organise an event at Daylesford. Your event, you choose the date.
As I live in Lilydale and have a lot of mates in the Yarra Valley I have been there, done that. Having said that I have a good friend who can organise for a group to stay in the campground at the Upper Yarra Reservoir. If needed there is a huge shed available for our use (wet weather or whatever) Might even be able to swing a spit roast or similar. If you folks like that one I will have a word with him and see what I can arrange.
Impala, that makes a West and an East, perhaps you might look at Blairgowrie or back to Cowes.
Cuz, that leaves you to see what is down Geelong or beyond if you wish.
cheers to all, Leigh.

OK, so far so good , I am happy to look into Blairgowrie, and I think that we will leave Cowes to Don257 , as he is au fait with that one ;D Now, it might be an idea to get some suggestions for dates from anyone that is interested in coming. If we could have an outing for each area, then everyone should be happy. Impala

Hi all, Impala's comment about the Yarra Valley, reminded me of the Badger Creek Holiday Park near Healesville. We took our caravan up there a couple of times when our kids were small, and I've been up there for the day periodically since. It's a top park, lots of open space, things for kids to do if people like Gristy come, BBQ's and open fireplaces, a big recreation room for group activities, cabins for those who want to come but don't have a van, great scenery, and lots of things to do in the Healesville area. www.badgercreekholidays.com.au/Just a thought. Not sure who's going to be the one to make the decision out of all the great suggestions so far. ;D ;D ;D Don Ricardo PS I put up this post without having seen Impala and Sportsman1's previous replies, however I'll still leave it on the table for what it's worth.

Just a thought, the Mornington Peninsula is a great spot with heaps of things to see/do. We have our holiday place at Rye, just 10 minutes from Blairgowrie. If the decision is to be Blairgowrie, then we would extend an invite for everyone to come around for an Bar B Q on our big open fire spit.
Over to the powers that be!

Subject to my comments about my own availability earlier on this thread, I reckon a weekend in March is the go. The long weekend has an obvious advantage in offering a longer time away and potentially a more relaxed departure from, and arrival home for those of us who have work either side of the weekend to consider.

Thanks all,
Impala, might I suggest you look into Blairgowrie for the Labour Day weekend, better weather for beachy type things.
Don Ricardo, I will pass the Yarra Valley over to you to sort out a date. Autumn in the valley is magnificent, how about middle to late May?
f/f, I fink Daylesford in the spring sounds good.
Cuz, Geelong and surrounds, how about Cup weekend for you?
need to go now, cheers, Leigh.

OK Leigh, will look into Blairgowrie, do you think that maybe we could do a few more runs between summer and autumn You have spaced them a fair way apart, [and maybe that is what everyone would prefer ] but, I just thought that a few more in the good weather would be nice. ;D Impala
