Hello All ,we need your help, please take a moment to think about where you would prefer our next National Meeting to be held. We have narrowed it down to two choices for you, both are in tourist towns where we should be able to find enough to entertain us, and both the Parks seem to be very similar. Mildura ..... Apex Riverbeach Holiday Park, dog friendly, camp fire OK,no problem to group us all together. Nuriootpa ..... Barossa Valley Tourist Park, dog friendly, camp fire, no problem keep group together. The date is Monday May10 to Friday May 14 2010 We did investigate re booking during Easter at both these Parks, Mildura was described by the manager as motor extravaganza mayhem ( think large groups of young people partying loudly all night ) and at Nuriootpa the Easter bookings are mainly all held by regulars, with no room for a sizable group. The Poll will remain until November 14, the winning Location at that time will be where we gather, it will give us all about 18 months to organize our holidays/time off etc. Cheers,Kris.

Good pick up Humpty - I missed the change of date.
Mothering Sunday in 2010 is Sunday 9th May, so no doubt most of us will be travelling or already away.
Canton Beach (replacement for Munmorah) in 2009 is 15th - 17th May, so if we keep to that normal weekend date - then yes Canton Beach will clash with the Nationals in 2010.
Kris was there a reason as to why the dates have been changed from March to May???
Thanks Di

Hi Di, the date was suggested by Mark and originally there were to be two Polls, one for the date and the other for location.
After phoning around, it became clear that we would have more chance of a quiet camp with plenty of room for us all to be together if we moved the Nats from Easter, so we went with Mark's choice.
I understand your concerns, and obviously if we get a lot of complaints re the date we will have to reconsider, but in talking to members it is clear that a lot of folk are happy with the change. Some would prefer not to be on the road over Easter, others would enjoy a less crowded park, and others have to work over Easter.
Easter is also a time when many other organisations have long established meetings, and members are already commited to attending them, or ferrying offspring to varius events.
It is almost impossible to find dates that suit all members, and although moving from Easter may mean that some can't attend, it also means that members who have not been able to have time off for the previous two Nats now have a chance to join in.
If we find that these dates do clash with other established events we can move back one week, ie May3-7, does that help?
Kris.

Oh come on guys .. surely we arent that fickle..... My mum turned 90 in August. I think she has seen enough family gatherings with presents of fluffy slippers. Bottles of powder, bunches of flowers in the past to see her through an extra week until i get home from Mildura. A simple phone call to her will surfice on the day.... She knows everyone in the family loves her and she loves us. To help ease the pain of those mums on tour .. i offer to cook bacon and eggs for all mums at the nats on Monday morning..... All they have to do is.. Go to Coles or Woolies and stock up on the chicken bum nuts and a kg or 2 of hog strips. ( better grab a carton while ya there too luv) Bring the food and cooking gear to the camp kitchen light the burners and adjust flame to suit. Set the table. wash and wipe up. Stack the plates away...... Knock the lids of the stubbies as required. My generosity simply amazes me sometimes. ;D ;D I say leave the date where it is. Mark set the date for this years nats and that was a done deal... not negotiable. It put an end to the "when and where" arguements before it started We start complaining that its "the Bus conductors picnic".., the "Annual dried flowers association convention in timbuctoo " or , "The stick insects rally at the Kickatinalong botanical gardens" that weekend and we will never get concensus on the nats date........ before ya know it ..... it will be Xmas 2010 and it will be too late to have the nats at all. Geez Louise ... i mean Struth Ruth.. lets just go with this OK. If my bluntness is getting up some mothers nose then lets have the thing on fathers day and be done with it.. I am off to check my "complaints" pms. I bet they have lipstick and nail polish on them Sorry girls.. oh .. and the sensitive new age guys amongst us. Reddo

Hi Kris, Thanks for the explanation of the date change. I can fully understand why the event date has been moved. As for clashing with Canton Beach - I'm sure that shouldn't be too big a problem for the regular NSW attendees. I would think that we should be able to move the Canton Beach date without a lot of hassle. Correct me if i'm wrong guys & gals. Regards Di

Canton Beach date can probably be changed ........... Mother's Day can't. To many people it does have special meanings and I elevate it above the "Bus conductor's picnic" and "Annual Dried Flowers Association" etc connotation.

Hi Humpty2. I appreciate your family loyalty . Mums are special Its a shame ya cant make it to the nationals in 2010. I am sure there will be those that either concur with you or simply cant afford to go to Mildura. Thank god there is local runs like Canton beach to cater for those that need a vintage van "fix" Reddo

Mildura or Nuriootpa....Both are great.
Its good to see locations that aren't necessarily east coast, or coast at all but still sort of central.
As for the dates, I have 364 other days to let mum know how I feel.
I'll be there, when-ever and where-ever.
Mal.

Re the date......The date will remain as stated, Monday 10th May to Friday 14th May 2010.

Hi Kris, And everyone else. Well done on putting this up now, gives everyone tonnes of time to plan ahead. Mildura sounds spot on to me, excuse for a "Meander along the mighty Murray" to get there. Anyone who has been up the Murray in March will know why May is much smarter.........anyone who thought the Mount was hot when we got there....just watch the weather reports in Mildura over summer 40-45 C is common. Not good for cars, kids, cooling beer or crusty old vintage vanners ;D Hmmm May 2010, should have the van ready by then Hey I thought Mothers day was the first sundy in May, that'd make it the second of May? Or am I wrong and fail the 'good son' test ;D Gristy
