I have discovered a roadhaven in a country NSW van park, very original inside- just a messof rubbish in it. Have started negotiations thru the van park owner who has recently started hassling the owner to get rid of it, I will keep you posted, but roadhaven addicts can PM me. Donricardo will put up some photos for me Jennison

Someone should rescue this van and restore it, as they are such a wonderful example of craftmanship
Even just getting it under cover to slow the rot would be good
How does one make contact with whoever.. to do this, with this van?

I am in the process of initial negotiation now. I will keep all here, posted on progress. Donr will be posting more photos (inside and outside) soon on my behalf . Inside ones are a bit blurry as they were taken thru the window. regards Jennison

Yeah Kingy . apparently the owner uses it!!? about once a month overnight, some sort of salesman!? The caravan park owner is keen for him to get rid of it and just use an onsite cabin - don't know if I'd like staying in a cabin after he'd stayed in it!! regards

Further news on the roadhaven seems to be an all too common and disappointing story of "I'm going to do it up one day" which as the van park manager says is most unlikely. If anyone is passing thru Tumbabloodyrumda, have a look! In the mean time, I have left my name with him and the park manager in case he ever has a change of mind. regards Jennison

Doesn't that give ya the tomtits.... you probably told him it was a lovely old classic 'van Jeff........ what you should say is " what are you doing with that lump of old rotting junk laying around ya yard, give me $50 and I'll remove it for ya"

I got a phone call out of the blue today from the owner of the roadhaven. He told me how good it was and that he would like to do it up but how much would I pay for it? I said only about a $1000- by the time you transport, repair it etc etc.. He was shocked reckons he can patch the rot holes in the outside and was thinking of around $12000 - that he could sell the stove, icebox and fittings for thousands - say no more!!!......... I will say more!- he did mention his ex brother in law lives near beaudesert in QLD and was into old caravans - does them up. Is there anyone on the forum who has a 67 year old ex brother in law who is a whipmaker and has a caravan in Tumba? regards jennison

the windows on this van seem to be the same as Roadmaster. Anyone with a van using this type of window now has a chance to buy new ones from Roadmaster Caravans in Lonsdale S.A. Larry who owns Roadmaster, also had some made to fit the windows on my Globe Trotter. G.T.windows were used on at least 3 different vans that I have seen so check yours out and contact Larry at Roadmaster Caravans on 08 8384 6011. He is a very obliging bloke with a genuine interest in vintage vans, especially old Roadies.

Woops......Sorry, Larry only had the RUBBERS made not the actual windows. He also had Globe Trotter (Cararest) rubbers made.
