Acquired- Elec/lpg. Measures 21'' square (approx) x 29" high. Can`t see/find model # but overall not in bad condition. Has chrome recess finger grip on door top like you find on sliding doors. Emblem on main door, brand nameplate on chiller box door. So another item to clean up along with the Maxie? cooker. Fitting a Ravia Caragas LP3 cooker (Made in Kogarah Sydney) in the galley of the Td tomorrow. 8600btu. And hopefully by next w/e will have the galley fitted out in ali sheeting along with water tank, sink & new shelving/storage. So will keep the Maxie/Halstrom for some other `van further down the line.Cheers

Here is some interesting information about Sir Edward Hallstrom, he sure would have found it difficult to transport these heavy fridges to the outback to sell, four men lifted my kero one. What an icon. www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A140412b.htm

Interesting read Lylack. Luckily this one of mine which i`ve since found out as a Model HJ2 LPE is light enough for me to trolley. I did have an old heavy as Emmcold fridge in my workshop which served me well for the seven or so years i used it until the day the builders backed into it. Builder wasn`t impressed either as it did just as much damage to his ute. So i ripped of the badge & handle which sits on a shelf in my garage now.But yeah, wouldn`t like to be lifting Kero fridges about with or without help. Cheers

Hello Jerden. As yet i haven`t had a real good look at the fridge. Picked it up from a street cleanup and as yet have only given it a scrub to see what lay under all the grime.Luckily it`s turned out to be a rather clean unit inside and out. And to all intents and purposes is undamaged as far as switches/fittings go.It remains to be seen as to be in working order. I will have a look tomorrow and sus out the pilot light ingniter. Cheers

Hi Jerden. So the set up on my fridge is as follows-running left to right-Electric Dial knob,Gas/Elec Dial,Gas Dial Knob,Gas line connection and Igniter button.Without having connected this fridge up and assuming a gas bottle is connected to the 'gas line connection', i would be inclined to 'depress' the Gas/Electric dial so as to switch it over to the gas position, turn the Gas Dial knob on and depress the Igniter button.Seems that easy to me (he says). I don`t see a pilot light & for safety reasons i suspect there never was supposed to be one. Basically a straight forward 'dial in electric or gas' system. Sorry i can`t be of more help. Least not until i find a suitable gas fitting for mine to connect to. Cheers

Me again,
OK, i got it going, it required a match!
The line that runs from the pressy button thing run to the back of the fridge, it has little holes that run the whole way back, pressed the button at lite it and the flame runs to the back to light the pilot.
Not sure how i didnt see the holes it that line before,
Thanks again.

Hello Jerden. Now you`ve got me intrigued. So sometime over the w/e i`ll check out mine. Still got to get a correct fitting but i`m sure i have one. Just hadn`t got around to doing things with mine as i`m keeping it for a latter project. cheers
